Would 35mm film cannisters be a waste of time and Tannerite? What's the smallest amount that's useable or produces a decent reaction (bang or visible) not just bullet impact?

Where has this wonderful stuff been all my life? I started out with small plastic snack bags, about the size of two popsicles. I filled it 1/3rd full. Boom! About the same as an M80, and a nice flash and cloud of smoke. Also blew a softball size hole in a piece of plywood that was serving as the backing, and this amount absolutely shredded a can placed on top of the bag. I got six blasts out of one half-pound target. So, film cannisters should work very well, and be economical until you decide to stop fooling around with the small stuff.

1/2 of a half-pounder made a very nice chest-thump. This load blasted a 4 inch diameter and foot long log to very small pieces.

The full half-pound target blew the sheeeit out of a fallen log, about a foot at a time, and provided a very impressive blast. The range safety llamas were not bothered at all, but I was hopping up and down and gibbering like an ape after every shot.

I was totally surpised by the power of even a small amount, and am eager to work up to a cataclysmic-type blast!

Enjoy while you can, as something this fun can not be legal for long.

you know as well as I do that no less than a 1gal milkjug full of the stuff is needed to make a decent reaction!

If you really got the stones(and $$$), fill up a 5gal. bucket and shoot it. You must post a video here if you do so.

joking aside, I think a 35mm can might be a little light. I would go for a 1/2 soda can full. It seems to make a nice boom. Maybe tape 2 or 3 film canisters together, that might work good.

Film bottles work great!

Makes a box of tannerite last alot longer and still has a nice bang and shockwave.

Especially at about 10 yards

Film canisters work great. I spray paint mine flourescent orange so they are easy to see. The blast isn't really that much different than shooting a regular bottle, maybe it seemed similar since I brought the canisters a little bit closer than I do the normal bottles. You can get about 7 or 8 film canisters out of 1 bottle. Try it, you'll be happy with the results

Hey,

I tried a 2 liter soda bottle and that irritated the neighbors about 400 yards away when their house shook. I was told later on others heard it miles away. It was awesome at 100 yards. Quite the crater as well.

I am getting ready to try Dip tins. They are a nice size for out to 200 yards and that size should not shake the neighborhood too bad.

Use plastic containers. That way the shards will lose velocity very quickly.

And do it a loooooooooooooooooooooooog way down range.

Fun stuff, but use common sense. If you haven't used it before, try a small amount, and work up.

A friend & I have gone through one case and we have another on the way. We've destroyed microwaves, a lawn mover (did serious damage to the motor), vacuums, etc. I didn't see it but one bottle was taped to the inside of a refriderator then something (maybe another frig) was put on top & the explosion was quite impressive. I keep forgetting to ask for the video.

I talked to Tanner today. When he did the 55 gal drum he was like 300 to 400 yards away. He said it really almost killed him. he said that you really have no real reason to do that, as the distance will take the effect away.

Some decent video of a flying dryer door on the web will convince you to not blow up appliances either.

Tannerite runs about 2# per quart. Or about $80 per gallon.

If you are doing work with it, it is pretty cheap, but just for noise it is a little expensive.

I have found that 4# is just about right for tree removal, if you prep the site, you can get away with as little as 1#.

I have used 3 Tablespoon charges to kill trees. Find a weakened area, place the charge at the area. The blast damage affects the tree in odd ways. About 2-3 months later, dead tree.

I'm trying to get it from him. i guess it broke the camera, but the tape was still OK.
