The real question is: Why is the electrical box half in a cupboard.

God, I'd be so pissed!

That doesn't look like an "OLD HOUSE" box. Maybe my concept of OLD is different.

Yeah, I think the electrician drank it all before work that day.

Edit to add: It IS a remod, but as much as they obviously spent on the granite, subzero fridge, custom woodwork, ect., youd think they could spring to have that box switched to the other side of the wall.

CookieCrisp,
What was the total cost on the granite in that (pic) house?

Just curious.

Old house or not, I'd have the box moved before I'd have it open into a kitchen cabinet.  Lame IMO.

The cabinet with the sink mounted on it is about four inches too long, some codes call for a receptical every two feet on a counter top, and oh yeah there's that little problem with the breaker box.

Is that a national code?

Oh yeah, I just noticed, do those two outlets by the breaker box even look level with each other?

Yea, there are a few code violations there. 1) you must have 3 feet of clearence in front of the electrical panel
2) there should be an receptical at any counter longer than 12" and every 4 feet there after
The inspector should write you up on that. So I am assuming that there was no inspection

Nothing that a Milwaukee Sawzall and a demolition blade can't take care of...

I wish I could show you the pictures of the construction wars between the framers and the plumbers/electricians/HVAC guys in the new construction houses I worked on up in Alta Dena, Cucamonga and Upland back in the late 70's.

I was a HVAC guy.

The favorite tool to fix the wood butchers mistakes was the Milwaukee Sawzall.

Atleast the box is IN the house.  My old house (built in 1915) had the box on the front of the house.  Luckily, no one ever killed the power to the house.  I would have been pissed to get home and the beer be hot.
