The UPS man delivered this today.

"US Switch & Signal" M1911A1. Of the 2 million M1911A1's made from 1941 to 1945, only (and exactly) 50,000 were "US S&S" and all were made in 1943.

This gun is in excellant condition with only a few small handling marks. All markings are correct and it is authentic from end-to-end.

I'm very proud to own this small piece of history.

Greg3,
"US S&S" is one of the 5 companies that made M1911A1's for the military during WWII.

They were:
- Remington-Rand (877,571)
- Colt (605,311)
- Ithaca (335,466)
- US S&S (50,000)
- Singer (500)

mtnpatriot,
- Yes, I have a C&R - shipped from the seller right to my door - sent a copy of my C&R FFL with my payment
- Got it off of AuctionArms
- Cost: Probably more than I should have paid, but worth it to me

drfcolt - nice looking US&S!  Prices for the collectable examples of 1911A1s is getting pretty dang crazy.  Just saw a primo 1913 Colt on AuctionArms that went up to $9700 or so and still didn't hit its reserve price!  Congratulations on a very nice pick-up.

Yea, I got this 1943 thing going:
- 1943 Springfield M1 Garand
- 1943 IBM M1 Carbine
- 1943 US S&S M1911A1

What's next?
- 1943 M1A1 Thompson
- 1943 M1918A2 BAR

Really don't think so!!!!!
