I am currently listening to Jimmy Durante.  It just screams of charm and class to me.

I thoroughly enjoy the music of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald (probably the best female vocalist of all time) as well as the modern heros of The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies, The Royal Crown Revue,  The Mighty Blue Kings.

So much class.  Such great music.  But noone listens to it much anymore.

Sing, Sing, Sing, (With a Swing) was the Heavy Metal of the 20's and 30's....

It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing....

No, actually I have heard that the classics are becoming popular with the youngfolk lately.

I'm Generation Why, so I guess I'm not really in the demographic of your question, but I love Sinatra, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, a whole ton of the old classic New Orleans Jazz, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies, and several of those you mentioned.

This is, of course, in addition to my addiction to trance, house, and techno, Alice Cooper, grunge, Johnny Cash, and They Might Be Giants.

At 42, I'm outside of the "Gen X" thing, but I listen to everything new and old.  Many of my friends are stuck in the "Pink Floyd", "Led Zepplin", "Areo Smith" era.  Me, I like everthing from Sinatra to Bob Marley to Marilyn Manson.

Being a country boy from the Old Dominion, believe it or not, I don't listen to Country, but I love NASCAR.  When I moved to Chicago, I was suprised my co-workers listen to Country, enjoy Hockey, but hate NASCAR, even though they have a track right here.  Go figure!

Maybe nobody you know.  The neo-lounge scene came and went last decade:

After about '96 just about everything new sucks donkeyballs, except for trance and techno (pretty much the only good thing to come out of Europe)

Im pretty young and big band and jazz type stuff is what i listen to most of the time.

Maynard Ferguson would be my favorite followed by Clifford Brown, Louis Armstrong, Dizzzy Gillespie, Bill Chase, ect. Mostly trumpet players.

One of THE best Christmas albums EVER !

I've always loved big band and other old time music.  It has "life and soul" to it that the stuff nowadays can't even dream to think about.

I personally am a huge Maynard fan, as well as a pathological listen of Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band.  I also play jazz sax.

Im a trumpet player myself. I bought Gordon Goodwins CD/DVD Swingin for the Fences about 2 weeks ago. Wayne Bergeron's lead playing is amazing. His CD is great too.

I listen to some Rat Pack stuff, and I absolutely adore Glenn Miller stuff (especially "Kalamazoo" as featured in his film, "Orchestra Wives"). Definitely good stuff.  Big Band people had class that some of today's performers lack. I like their touch of finesse. Just listen to Billie Holliday's "Strange Fruit." Always gives me chills. Miller's "In the Mood" makes me want to get up and boogie.

I have more Sinatra albums than any other artist.  Born in 65 - technically the last year of the baby boom or 1st year of gen x.

It's Frank's world.  We're just livin' in it.

I'm 38 and I love standards.  I listen mostly to Sinatra and Harry Connick Jr.  I own Sinatra's Capitol Years recordings (21 CDs) and his complete Reprise recordings (20 CDs).  If anyone wants to trade CDrs send me a PM.

There are a lot of modern guys player the "gypsy jazz" django style.

Check out:

Bireli Lagrene (gypsy project albums)
Martin Taylor (he has an album called Spirit Of Django that's great)
Stochello Rosenberg (www.rosenberg-trio.com/)
... there are tons more but I like these guys

Also, here's some video clips of Django and some other players:

Who remembers the mid 90s?

There was a huge resurgence of swing music. Brian Setzer even charted with his rendition "Jump Jive an' Wail" (AKA "Drunk drivin', hit a whale") for a good long time (for good reason, it's a great tune and disc) and Tony Bennett had a huge career boost because of it.

Since then it's kind of returned to its background position... Frankly I always liked it (and I was born in the early 70s), I love the vocals and the production on the band albums.

Been a BB / Swing fan since the mid-80s.

My gateway drug was the 1939 Carnegie Hall recordings of Benny Goodman.

When I was a teenager, I worked at a resort that had a ballroom and an 18 piece orchestra. The music grows on you, especially when its live and high quality.
