I'm looking to buy one this summer for a hunting trip my friend and I are going on for our birthdays. What i've read is that (in advertisements atleast) is that pretty much everything that has a range over 2 miles requires an 'fcc license'. Is there anything that doesn't?

Check out some of the high end midlands. Depending on terrain and other factors, ,you can get 8 miles out of them.

I've never seen the 'GRMS' police checking for licenses.  I doubt they will be searching your hunting grounds if you are using them.
