This site compiles Chicago crime statistics.

The 'map' link provides a google map and filters that will display crimes and their density based on your filter selections. I thought this was pretty nifty so I figured I'd share it with you guys. Once you update map you can get more info on each indicated crime by clicking on the little indicator.

Chicago already has a system that does EXACTLY that -- which is where chicagocrime.org gets its data.
