I was thinking about getting a Dyson DC07 Animal.  Is this still a good vacuum to get?  Should I spend more and get the DC14 model?

cheap dysons

I have 2 friends that have dogs and bought these vacs (i think they are factory refurbs). They have said that they run perfect and are the best vacs that they have ever owned.

I would buy one but I keep spending my extra money on my damn AR's

My wife has one, and it saved me from having to buy her a rainbow (about the price of a small car). Does it work well? I dunno, The wife hasn't asked for another vacuum cleaner, so i suppose so. Is it worth the money? Probably not. Are my floors clean? Most of the time. We have 2 dogs and a cat and it picks up 5 gallons of hair every time she vacuums.

I've heard it is good...except around here Dysons are around 500 bucks.  Don't really know if it's worth the money.

does not the fact that dyson is selling factory refurbs of their 'new' product set off any alarm bells? your money will go a lot further if you can actually 'see' what you are paying for. talk to a pro. you will be suprised what you will learn.

btw dyson is made by panasonisc. you know, the people who are used to marketing electronics that are soon broken /obsolete so you have to make the next trek to best buy. at least with electronics technology is advancing. the manufacturers figured out how to make efficient home appliances 50 yrs ago and have spent the rest of the time figuring out how to keep you buying new ones. and no, you dont have to mortgage the house to buy a kirby/rainbow. ever wonder why they want to catch you at home with only 1 other product to compare to? even then they often have to tuck tail.

No, most companies do.  Many of these could be returns - buyers remorse, folks that did the "walmart rental", whatever.

Sam's club has a great deal on 'em, forgot the model.  Think it was $425 for a loaded one.
Can't check the model, I gotta get it back from the parents...  Despite her pricey hoover or whatever mom has she still wanted to borrow it.

Yeah, Costco had one for $406 or $409.  I have a Sam's card but I went with a guy from work for something and saw it there (Costco).  That's what got me on the Dyson kick this week.

Don't know much about Dyson Vacuums, but in my life time in my search for the perfect sucker of dirt, Dyson name and Hoover have been named tops.  As I see it, Dyson is pretty expensive, but well worth it.

Dyson made his money by the hard work of the local workforce that he abandoned to send his manufacturing overseas. He moved his operation overseas to capitalise on the cheap labour costs forsaking the local comunity that made him and his company what they are today.

He makes me sick, he sapped the life out of the comunity when he upped sticks to seek more profits from abroad when the company was stable and profitable here in the UK

Cheap Dyson Refurbs

My mom has one she says it the only thing that will get up all of the dog/cat hair. she loves her Dyson

I like mine so much I may paint the AR furniture to match the purple turqoise color scheme.

Had one for almost a year now, don't want another vacuum....ok, I'd love to have the Rainbow our family had many MANY years ago back, but that's long gone. Considering their price, I'll stick with the Dyson.

Interesting thing.....the Consumer Reports posted earlier needs to be taken with a slight grain of salt. I've read it many times in my quest for a vacuum, and the one big thing I gleaned out of it is that they had an inherint negative opinion of bagless vacs in general, which knocks the Dyson down a peg. They DO have a point in that the Dyson is heavier than other vacs, but if my 61 year old mom with bad knees can use it.......

they could be, in my experience that is not the case.
fwiw, before Dirt Devil (Royal mfg.)moved to china, their refurb center was a few blocks away from my buisness. remember the puppy commercials when dirt devil was the new ultimate vac? how about fantom? (look into other products Dyson has been involved with.)

do you want your hard earned dollars to go to here-today-gone-tommorow marketing hipe? or something made to clean your carpets.

i have some recomendations. they would depend on things like budget, application, and feature desires.
if you are looking for just a brand name, im me and i'll recommend one i have a great history with. i wanted to avoid being discredited just because dyson wasn't 'my brand'.
also, many so-called brands are really made by the same manufacturer- and products in a brand will vary in quality and features they offer. that is why i said to visit your local vac shop and get some real help.

eta- consumer reports does not have a satisfactory record with their picks. they just dont have enough time to spend with them before reviewing car stereos. with the auto issue they get their data from surveys. much larger sample, more accurate results. right now i'm surrounded by more than 150 vacs. help!

I like clean carpets and with large six-bedroom house shared with just a dog for 10 years, I can tell you that there is not much difference in good vacuums now. I will sample the brands at my sisters and parents houses, ask around, narrow the field and then purchase the one with a good price tag (usually at the club stores now).

I'm currently using two Eurekas for each floor in the house. The model I have can go against my mother's dyson. She believes as well since the dyson stays in the laundry room.

My advice to all of you is that save your money and not buy the do-all, end-all vacuum at high prices because these cannot deliver. Maintenance of carpets is like the oil in your car. It is more about the frequency of how often you vacuum than the brand of vacuum cleaner you use.

Save your money and just vacuum more often and clean them on a regular basis. There is no vacuum out there where you can vacuum less often and still maintain the carpets equally. NONE.
