So last night must have been prom somewhere close, becuase at 3AM I found a 17yo girl, and 9 guys aged 16 -19 standing in the parking lot of our seediest hotel drinking 40's and smoking bud.

All the juvies claimed they had parents permission to be there!  Called the parents, and every one of them confirmed they gave their kids permission to go to an "after party" after the prom.

What the hell are parents thinking?  The girls parents must be dying to be grandparents or something? One drunk stoned 17yo girl with 9 drunk stoned guys is one hell of a party or a disaster waiting to happen depending on your point of veiw.

Parents, do you let your teens go to "after parties" at hotels?

My 17 y/o daughter went to her boyfriend's senior prom last night.

I stayed up until I knew that she was safely home and in bed. ALONE.

And she knew that both of her parents and both of her b/f's parents were awake and waiting on their return.

the parents probably gave permission, but not for something exactly like the actual party
for me it would depend on the guys. if they were all good friends of hers that I had met on multiple occasions and thought were good kids I might be ok with them sharing a couple of hotel rooms on say a road trip to DC to go sight seeing
after prom party: since those are just get drunk and laid fests no, even with the same guys as my comment above
shit if/when I have kids they won't be going to any after prom parties that are just kids renting a hotel room. if they want to go to one that is at least somewhat chaperoned by adults then I might let them go

I went to prom for jr. and sr. years.  Kids went to cottages up in MI and stuff, but I didn't go-nor would have my parents approved it.  

If I was a parent-It would be no UNLESS it were supervised by a responsible adult that I knew and trusted, but that's in a perfect world.  So, if I were a parent-No F-----g way.  

BTW-yesterday, Friday, and usually the first and second weeks in suburban Chicago are prom nites.

My 17 year old just finished his prom. He was in a group of 8 guys and 8 girls. They rented their own limo and were supposed to go to Seaside NJ and stay at a hotel there. No chapperones and one of the parents actually supplied their daughter with their credit card. He was the only one that didn't go. He joined them the next morning and had fun down the shore. My wife and I feel pretty damn good about it, but WTF with the other parents???.

I guess we're just too old-fashioned for todays modern society. Oh Well.
