Near the exit, in case of fire. Yes, I do worry about things like that.

In that situation, I suggest the ol bucket of  buttered popcorn on the lap prank.... works every time.

sounds evil but I just can't do it at my local theatre, it's still has the new feel to it.
Actual comfortable seats with stadium seating.

+1 on dead center. Best sound IMHO.

I used to like dead center in the front row, but I outgrew that. Now I'm always in the last row, which doesn't bother Mrs GoGop because she hates big screens. (She thinks our 27" TV is too big).

oh yeah, dead center and above the horizontal center line

Middle high, just left or right of center.  Should be where the sound is best.

In the theaters with stadium seating I usually sit in the right hand section in the row with the rail in front of it, in the isle seat. Though now that I think about it, that might not be the best spot for the "ROPer runs into the theater shooting" scenario.

In old style theaters I just pick an isle seat midway down.

Back wall in the center is ideal!

Depending on the seating arrangement…

4 or 5th row, 7th or 8th seat from the aisle.

I counted once.  Seat 7 or 8 from the aisle is almost always dead center.
Forth or fifth rows get me close to the screen so I have somebody in front of me.  Further back makes the screen closer to what I have at home.  Closer and the visual quality of the movie declines.
