I just picked up a Dorcy Spyder Tactical Flashlight at Lowe's, of all places.

It was $19.99, and came with a holster and 2 CR123 batteries. The little sucker is BRIGHT, and the on/off switch is in the tail cap, so you could easily use it along with a CCW pistol. Not a bad deal....

Damn, I just googled my Lowes here in Yuma and it looks like they are not carrying it......

Fuck, the batteries cost that much-just about.

I have an Inova LED that takes the CR123 batteries and they're $12.99 for 2 at Walgreens.

So, I guess you got a decent deal.

If you are paying $12.99 for 2 batteries, you are getting ripped off


Surefire sells them directly for $1.25 per battery, and they are arguably better than duracell or any other brand (especially for high drain lights)

Any idea how the Dorcy would compare to the least expensive Surefire?????

FWIW - I've never seen a Dorcy product in my life that wasn't pretty cheap & crappy, but I haven't seen this light.

Fortunately, I haven't had to replace the batteries in my Inova yet. It gets little use, even though I carry it whenever I use my CCW fannypack. I bought the light 2 years ago and it still has the original batteries that came with it in it.

I just noticed the price when I was at Walgreen's getting batteries for my OKO reflex sight. (Now those are cheap at Walgreen's)

I rarely use the Inova because I'm the same way with Maglites as I am with knives-I have more than any 3 guys need.

Now if Maglite just came out with a momentary switch for their 2@AA lights, I'd be set.

Beam isn't as well shaped.  Button sucks compared to the G2.

Bottom line - for a few bucks more get the G2.

The Dorcy claims 120 Lumens and $34.00 surefire is 60 lumens but the more expensive Surefires are 120 lumens and up.
I'll try the dorcy out for the price but I still want a Surefire as well(get both)

You can get a 120 lumen bulb and keep your 60 as a spare.

Surefire G2 - I can get for $28 or so from BrightFlashlights.

I think I paid $20 for a 120 lumen P61 lamp.  Total is now $48 - plus I have the P60 as a spare.

General concensus is that they're repackaged Energizers...which finished at the bottom of the heap when measured at high drain (2 amps).

Help a brutha understand mang!

I and a friend have ordered many times from Botach and have had no problems at all, I got real Glock high caps for fifteen-dollars and a couple of Streamlight Scorpions for $25 each and the batteries were $17.50 for a pack of 20 Sanyos.  I have full confidence in them and have always received what I ordered on time.

The chart shows the SF batteries finishing 7th out of 8th (at 1.048 AH), with the Energizers bringing up the rear (at 0.956 AH). The order in which the batteries are listed on the chart has nothing to do with their ranking.

For one thing - that test isn't valid for how I use my flashlights.


I don't turn them on and leave them on - overheating won't be an issue for my use.
