can anyone identify this old spoon?

Ive had this old spoon for a long time, it is for eating melons like cantalopes, etc

how old do you think it is? it has an old wooden handle that appears to have been re-painted a few times? red, dark green, light green...

Im guessing 1950's era?

I think those ar actually called " Melon Ballers" and yeah it looks pretty old man. try some Nevrdull before you eat with it. HAHAHA

Doesn't the melon juice drip out of the holes? Looks like something I'd use on icecream. No idea how old it is though.

It's a melon baller. It's for making round balls out of your melons for presentation. You know when your having company and you want to make melon look special. I'd say late 50's.

It's a "Melon Baller" that is used to make little decorative scoops of melon for dishes, etc. We have
one that I was given by my grandmother - it just gathers dust in the utensil drawer, as it's only good
for decorative dish-type stuff.

I knew someone that collected old kitchen utensils. Many that she had that looked like that were pre WWII. I think she said the type of metal used is an indication of the age, but I don't know for sure.

It's a melon baller, we used to have one that was double ended, one end for big balls and the other for small balls. It was fun to use as a child. The holes are to prevent a vacuum from being created. I like the paint job on it, it sort of looks like a water melon.

My mother has a pic of her grandma using one exactly the same. In the pic, my mom is 4 years old.
this would make it 1929.
So either you got an old one, or they continued to make that style longer than I know.
Mom said Grandma got that melon baller at the 1929 world's fair.
