I would have to pick the chase in Ronin.
I liked the one through Paris. |
Yeah it came down to Ronin and Bullitt for me.
It was tough- causing havoc in San Fran or Paris. Decisions, decisions. CRC |
I personally find the Bullitt chase a bit overrated, mostly due to the inferior sound quality of older movies. I prefer the chase in Ronin. A runner up to those two might be the chase in The Bourne Identity.

+3 You can't beat Steve ! Although Gone in 60 Seconds ( the original ) is a close second |

Yall are all wrong!!
The 45 min car chase in the second matrix has got everything beat!! ETA: hhmmmm I don't remember the exact amout of time for that car chase but its close. |
I liked the one in the Beginning of the Transporter. Total bullshit, but still entertaining.
It was a 5 Series. Great chase too. |
The Seven Ups was the first that came to my mind, but Bullit was second. Now that I've thought longer, Vanishing Point is a chase all the way through and it's awesome. I've never seen Ronin, so I can't compare anything to it.

Oh Crap.
1977's Smokey and the Bandit. It was on this weekend. Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleason. |
"To Live and Die in LA" was prob my favorite one.
"Bullit" was cool to since I lived right near where that was filmed and rode my motorcycle through the same hills a lot. |

+1 IIRC it's "S.C.M.O.D.S." State, County, Municipal Offender Data System Gone In 60 Seconds (the original) Road Warrior Cobra (the car chase is about the only good thing in the movie) Used Cars |
I forgot about that one, and I've got it on DVD. Cannonball Run is good too. The most memorable scene is at the beginning when the Lambo comes from up behind the cop, downshifts and disappears. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeetttt!!!!!!!!!!!! |
#1 Centurion Messala chasing Judah during the chariot race in Ben Hur
#2 To Live and Die in LA #3 Terminator 2 |
+1 For the Blues Brothers
"I'm gonna get those sucka's, if it is the last thing I do..." |
T2 came to mind first, but since we're doing old stuff "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry"
+1 lots of cars crashing and funny too. |
I've always liked the car chase in Blues Brothers. The hood camera catching the crap sliding left and right on the dashboard was just great!
Blues Brothers is about the best. I always wanted a Cop Car after that show.
I also like White Lightning with Burt Reynolds. Classic car movie. Love those 429 cu inch LTD's. |

Not really a chase scene but a short movie called "The Run"
A few years ago they took a Nissan 350Z to Prague, Checkoslovakia..they shut down the city and had an Oscar winning director, professional film crew and driver with 14 cameras shoot a 6 minute movie of the Z going full blast through the streets of downtown with no special effects. It was about as intense as it gets..I've seen it a few times on TV but I haven't found the complete version on line yet www.excelsiornissan.co.nz/the5thdimension/option.asp?pageid=5 |

+6 That black '68 Charger RT RULED... untill it crashed |

The man chasing the Alpine White 1970 Dodge Challenger in Vanishing Point (1971)
Against All Odds. Jeff Bridges in a Porsche vs James Woods in a Ferrari on Sunset Blvd in traffic. I still grip my armrests when I think about it. Tried doing the same thing on Sunset a while back in my new Porsche; the thrill lasted for a few seconds before I came to my senses.
CW |
????? Who? |
Definitely Ronin. Both chases, with the Audi S8, and then with the M5 later on, were excellent.
I also like Sean Connery in The Rock, destroying San Francisco with the Hummer and Cage chasing him in the F355. The Transporter opening was good, too, but a little overdone. The Blues Brothers chase in the mall always makes me laugh. "This mall has everything!" |
Oh I forgot-Fast and the Furious-especially the big rig chase near the end.
+7 Loved that fast back 390 GT working all over that Hemi |
My favorite is the scene in Deliverance where Lewis Medlock cuts off them Griner Brothers in that old wrecker.
Sorry. No hemi in Bullitt. |

You are all wrong.
The ZEN like slow motion chase in "Way of the Gun" is a car chase masterpiece..... Watch it again, think about what is happening. Masterful!!!! |
