Firstly I do not group other women with this bitch, but she really does give most women out there a bad name.

A few months ago my best friend decided to seperate with his wife and get a divorce. He allowed her to stay in the house that they were living at. He bought this house before they got married. After awhile it was just too much of a hassle for him. So he asked her to leave. She did not, would not. After a few more months the papers were served for her to leave(Long story). She did not. So my buddy calls the sheriffs to get her out. Shortly she locks herself in the bathroom and calls the sheriffs herself claiming he beat her up. My friend who I have known for 15 years will never ever hit a woman ever. Sheriffs show up, she bangs herself on something, guessing the sink and get the big welt on her forehead. They cuff my buddy, he goes to jail.

Bottomline: He goes to jail over the weekend. Get's to go to anger mangmt class which he has to pay for $200 a pop. Get a restraining order which means he had to turn in all his guns. Has to serve additional ten days which he is doing on weekends. He has to see a shrink which he has to pay for $85 and hour. 2x a week.

No witnesses. It his word against her. I had my doubts so I sat with him and asked him honestly what happened. He told me, all he did was do a lot of yelling and cussing. Bad thing is he continued the yelling and cussing when the cops were there and they had it on video, which added to the guilty verdict. There is also a chance for him to lose his gun owning right for 10yrs. He has a thriving biz and she might get most of that. I business he built years before meeting her. Now it looks like that might go to her. So will half of the house. So far my buddy spent close to 30K with all this legal crap.

Why do women do this?!?!? Why do they think and act his way. They think "well you hurt me so I will hurt you" My bro's ex wife took all of his credit cards and maxed it out prior to the divorce(AMEX was upwards of 70K). Guess he deserved it cause he did cheat on her. But still, that's just mean.

Ya just can't associate with people who may act this way. It's a fact of life, and we all know who would act like this, though some folks take the risk and associate with those types of persons, whether for sex, or they are friends, or they are $hitting themselves.

This woman was perfect as far as we all knew. Smart(maybe too smart), seemed to have her head together. Got along with everyone in the group. She had a good job, everything normal up to this point. My friend just grew out of love from this person and wanted to move on. No kids involved thank God.

This sounds like domestic violence related and if it is he will lose his gun owning rights forever if he's convicted.
Link Posted: 7/5/2001 11:37:16 AM EDT
[#7]
He has been found guilty of domestic violence. Hence all the crap he has to go to. The most incriminating evidence was his voice while sitting in the back of the cop car calling her every name in the book. His lawyer is trying to get the gun thing expunged(?sp) Looks like that might happen cause the shrink has determined he does not have a violent personality, and is not likely to go postal. His lawyer is banking on this. If that happens, he still cannot have guns till the restraining order is over(1yr)

On the bright side, I might get his Sig for a good price hehehehe. He needs to sell it if the gun thing sticks or be confiscated.

Man I feel for your friend.  Do you think she did that just to make him lose his rights?

Odds are that he will lose his gun rights forever, that really sucks.

I guess you really have to make sure you've got the right one before you make the plunge, otherwise, you can get yourself in deep doodie quick.

CavVet is right on the money with his assesment of this .......( fill in the blank with your own choice word)

Yeah he's bummin' he has a nice collection of shotguns too.

I have had 3 other buddies that got screwed as far as money and property is concerned when it came to their divorce. 2 of them the woman wanted the divorce.

No wonder I am 34yo and am afraid, there I said it. Yes I am afraid to get married. If you had things prior to the marriage, it should be off limits at the time of divorce.

That's what they make pre-nuptual agreements for.  If you own alot, before you get married you should probably think about having one drawn up that both of you must sign.

Yeah, domestic abuse is like the only crime a cop CAN make an arrest for without witnessing.

A friend of mine was living with a GF who flipped out on him, began accusing of being gay, insulting him, etc.  He yelled at her and she responded by calling the police.  They showed up and she said he hit her.  He went to jail.

He got bailed out and goes back to GF's apartment because that's the only place he can stay.  Things are ok for a few days, then they get in an argument and SHE begins battering HIM.  He's just blocking and protecting himself.  The ruckus draws the police they run a check on him: arrested once before in same place for domestic abuse.  Boom.  Back to the hoosegow.  Never mind HE was the one battered and bruised and she didn't have a mark on her.

Yep.  Some evil women out there.

Sadly, your friend has run into a popular problem. Unfortunately, we women have this problem too.
You can't single out women as the abusers in this area. Men have a big share of it too. I know you are upset and think your statement was very fair as far you were able at the time. And I have to agree...some women are bee-atchs! Then again some men are @SSholes! Guess us good ones are just gonna have to hang together!
Good luck to your friend!

I won't hit a lady.
But I'll slap the shit out of a bitch who fights first.  This lady needs a good hand upside the back of her head, just like a mischievous child who won't do what he/she's told.

Some asshole men, and there are plenty, deserve to get hit; some women deserve to get slapped.  Sex has no bearing on 'corporal punishment' -  Violence begets violence.

As I have heard, during a divorce:

1) If you are on good speaking terms, keep it that way, and NEVER EVER NEVER raise your voice.  Just be lucky the divorce is clean.  Also have a friend (witness) handy and to keep the peace.  This can also reduce the divorce fees.

2) For those hated, non-speaking divorces, ALWAYS use a third party courier (lawyer).  Games over, so stay away from her, minimal phone calls.  Expect big legal fees.

Anyone in a relationship that turns violent, games over, never go back.  The exception, the two of you are good drinking buddies [beer]

The biggest problem your friend created is that he made his intentions known in advance and she decided to "punish" him while she could.  IMHO, if you are going to end a relationship, do it quickly so that there is no time to inflict revenge based in rumor/innuendo.  File the paperwork and get a sheriff to escort her out of the house.  Change the locks, credit cards, and bank accounts.  He lit a slow fuse on a bomb and is paying dearly for it now.

If he has been convicted of domestic abuse he will never be able to own or possess firearms. The one year could be a suspended sentence or probation, but if pleaded guilty or was found guilty of domestic violence, no more guns. What was he thinking by living in the residence. If the marriage is over, get out, regroup, and go on with the rest if your life. There is a very real reason for domestic violence laws. However, the FEDS have taken away reasonableness and officer discretion by passing a law that is politically correct, but morally flawed.

LT,
Been there, got the fingerprints and the mugs.

Dunno about your state but around here (according to my liar) "crimes against people" can't be expunged, I tried.

And, if he loses his rights under FedLaw instead of state law there isn't (at least last time I checked) a procedure for getting 2A rights restored.

Luckily, mine were pulled under WA law prior to the passage of the FedLaw. Some of my friends thought they had skated by having convictions far prior to the cut off for the WA state law. Then the feds lowered the boom and got them too.

Worst part is a year later she sucker punched me in the back of the head as I was leaving the house to get away from an arguement (Anger Management 101). I figured turnabout's fair right? LE arrived after *I* called them, looked at the blood (mine), the phone pulled from the wall (she did it), her swollen hand (she's 5' and 95 lbs, I'm 5'9" and 220. Told me they would file a report that she had struck me (she had used the good old threat of "I'll tell them you hit me" too many times) then told me that "Pregnant women can get irrational".

I guess I left out the part about them NOT arresting her.

I find out during the custody hearing a year later that the BiBs didn't file any report and the only evidence was an incident report that stated the BiBs had responded to a reported domestic violence assault that day. That really helped my custody case. [:(!]

Kinda lost what little remaining faith I had in the system after that, just starting ignoring all their stupid laws.

Canya tell I'm still a little sour? Now I only date gals that know not to punch people in the skull. [:)]

Nice to hear ya CavVet, M sez hi. [smoke]

Got to weigh in on this one.

Unfortunately, the police can make an arrest only on the strength of an accusation and usually can't be bothered to do a real investigation.  Arrest them all and let the courts sort it out, I suppose.  The problem with that is that the prior arrest will haunt you always--even if you're not convicted.

I agree that the best thing to do is make all the eviction arrangments ahead of time and then just do it--removal of the person & property, change the locks, and discontinue communication of any kind from that point forward.  Never meet with her again privately, and conduct all communication through an attorney.  Isn't this a pain in the ass?

Women have been taught how easy it is to f*ck with your freedom and they WILL stage an event to that end.  You can't tell a book by the cover, but you can be damn sure that every woman walking the earth has the potential to ruin your life and will do it if she thinks she has reason--even if that reason is just to make you miserable.

Here in Missouri, if the police respond to a domestic violence call somebody has to go to jail. No matter what.

So once again, if your girlfriend/wife/neighbor calls the cops, your chances of going to jail for DV are at least 50/50 whether you've done anything or not. And as stated before, the cops usually take the womens side. All she has to do is SAY you hit her. Your word against hers. Either way by law, somebody has to go. More than likely it will be the guy.

I think beating on women is way fucked up. But so is this law.

Link Posted: 7/5/2001 4:33:19 PM EDT
[#25]
Whats f-ked is that they get the most minor incidents. The guy who beats his wife/GF harder seems to skate cause he has her scared to death. Most of these women won't tell on him cause they're beaten down emotionally too. Same goes for child abuse cases. The go wild on minor discipline(NOT EXCESSIVE). Then I see times where there are tons of complaints with nothing done and then the kid is killed. Or my favorite where mother murders a child then gets out of jail to have other children returned to her.

Domestic violence cases suck.  But just because there is an allegation of assault there has to be some kind of evidence: admission, witness, marks, etc.

Michigan is a property fault state. You would never believe all the cheating/ran out women who beg for another chance to start again, and then give him some beers and then yank his chain until he slaps her, so she can call the cops.
(She, of course, had talked to a lawyer and found out how to turn that 40-60 his favor for leaving him into a 70-30 her favor for getting hit--the fault has to be before the final split)
My firm does very little family law, and what we do is too much.

It can turn against them as well.

When I first started going through my divorce, the very first thing I did was have all firearms removed from the house and locked away.
This was in December, and we wanted to keep some sembelance of nomalcy for the kids, to get through Christmas.

One day when it was thought I would be gone all day on the job. I got a chance to stop by the house.

Well, a nieghbor saw me come home, knowing that my wife was with her, we'll say Current Husband, the nieghbor went down the street to warn them I was home. In the meantime, I had left the house, when my soon to be Ex found out I was home (which I wasn't by then), she thought she would be clever and get me thrown out of the house. She called the police and stated "I was barricaded in the home with guns and making threats". According to other nieghbors, they had the damn SWAT team out there, because I wasn't replying to the cops, DUH, I wasn't there! The SWAT team broke into the house to find no-one of course! This did not sit well with the Judge in court, to say the least! [:D] But, still this gutless puke of a Judge did nothing about it! Filing a false report, a trigger happy SWAT member could have killed me, had I been there. He admonished her, but he stated he could understand why she did it, because I had Firearms and she was with her lover and could understand why should would be afraid!

First thing we do is, kill all the lawyers no flame towards the few decent lawyers out there.

The worst thing of all of this is that she might get the biz he had built for the past 10yrs. I remember him borrowing money for gas from me cause he couldn't afford gas to see clients. He lived in his mom's garage.

Now:

He was able to afford a Mercedes for her(used). a Vette, one of them Ferraris like in Magnum PI, hired 3 guys for his biz, buy a nice house. Now he is probably gonna lose it all. And them some. He'll be back living with in his mom's garage again. And he's my age.

I don't think I'll ever get married.

I've been put through some CRAZY stuff because of women. Not just women, but wacky women. They all seem so nice at first, too.
Restraining orders, Police interaction, lies, threats, physical violence against me, suicide attempts, theft, a contract on my life, etc. I've been put through the ringer on many occasions.
Women have the capability to be hell on earth.

I thank God often for bringing me my Fiance.
She hasn't turned psycho yet. At least not uncontrolably.[;)]

[disclaimer: most of the women I've spent time with are not the type most would refer to as "wild". At least they didn't start out that way.]
