Last I heard, they found one body and the wreckage of both planes, but that's it.

My best guess from being around USMC fighter pilots and crashes my whole life:

Were mockdogfighting, one lost sight, didnt call No Joy, and they made contact

Or

Were joining up in formation and got too close. I think the first one is more logical.

Very sad.
I know the officer who handed the folded flag to one of the Marine's nine year old daughter.
He had served in his squadron.

Pretty fucking heartbreaking.

These pilots were NOT inexperienced.
One was Top Gun.

That WAS a pretty bad dust storm that night. Our scouts were part of site security during the recovery, which I heard was not a pretty sight. My heart goes out to those pilots' families.
