And people called me anti-LEO when I mentioned what these out of control "police officers" are doing!  They are like the Rampart division of the LAPD: a giant gang with badges and state-issued weapons (including machine guns).

I live in PG County and I think the police dept here is "pretty good".  Population of the county is larger than DC, New Orleans, and a bunch of other cities.  Minority population is close to 85 percent.  If they go soft like the LA PD did after Rodney King then I am in deep shit.

Cops like that need to be hunted down and exterminated like the vermin that they are. If the people can not get justice through the system then they need to get justice themselves. A little vigilante justice is just what that county needs. I know for a fact that if anyone cop or not had done to me what some of those cops did to other innocent people those Bast**ds would not live for very much longer. And anyone who tried to protect then or tried to arrest me for getting my due justice, would meet the same fate.

Well your the problem then. Its the people who live in the area who need to stand up to this. Maybe next time the unarmed person getting shot will be your wife or someone else close to you then you wiil just be another disgruntled person who wants revenge because your wife was a criminal. Don't let the police control the country. My local police force is complised of people who couldn't get a job at McDonalds. Fat, stupid, slow, felons; what good law enforcement officers should be. I'm not saying that every LEO is that way but I no longer see it as a bad minority, I think that now its a bad majority with a few good cops here and there. But im sure that only the LEO's that are on this board will read this so I'm probaly not talking to the bad majority. But anyone who reads that artice and doesn't think that there is something funny going on is part of the problem.

It isn't just PG County either. In my experience, most law enforcement in Maryland is in serious need of reform. They are exactly what Kharn said - a state run gang with weapons supplied by the victims/taxpayers. What do you expect in a socialist liberal state?  I am a refugee of Maryland, for tax reasons and because their govt is as close to tyranny as you can get without actually being in Cuba.

Masino is a hero and deserves an award. He was doing the his job to the best of his abilities to make sure that he and his fellow officers were able to go home safely at night. If he was doing something wrong you would see other cops on here condemning his actions, but you won't because he did good. You civilians just like to bash cops every chance you get.

I am not now, or have I ever been a member of a Maryland Law Enforcement Agency.  I have seen abuses of the system before, both by officers and by the public.  I realize that the media can by extremely one-sided in their reporting, but damn, that article made me think of the old check phrase testiLIE when I considered the officer's actions and those of I.A.D. investigators.  But I am bothered that there was no mention of the ACLU, the Justice Dept., or the FBI, all are usually contacted by citizen watchdog groups when you have a pattern of abuse as the article reports....hmmmm?

Gus is right, law enforcement in MD is, for the most part, in serious need of reform.  Crap like that makes things harder for everyone in law enforcement who is honestly trying to do a good job.

Hangfire and SGB,

I am ashamed of you two.  If there are any members who shouldn't bash the other LEO's of this country it should be the both of you.

Where is NO-AR when you need him.  He would tell you like it is.  Nobody seems to notice that the article is entirely one sided, there is not one attempt to be balanced, not a word from the departments perspective.

Look if any of these fine boys in blue actually broke any law they would have been arrested.  They weren't so they obviously didn't break any laws.  If they did something wrong or inappropriate they would have been suspended or fined as the result of the review.  The majority were not disciplined so therefore THEY DID NOTHING WRONG!!!  As a matter of fact the majority of them either received commendations, raises or promotions soon after the "So Called" incidents.

The PG police have a hard enough job on their hands without the whole country watching over their shoulders and second guessing the shooting of all "so called" unarmed perp's.  I'll bet that everyone of those that were shot wished they had a gun themselves so I would only call them "temporarily hoplo-impaired".  You know and I know that had these perps been armed that they would have shot back at the police, therefore they deserved the bullets they got and should consider themselves lucky to have lived, if they did.

Who's going to arrest them?? Cops always stick up for one another. ALL COPS.. Even cops who might not do these things themselves won't raise a finger to point out that one of their fellow officers is wrong. LEO's have a bad name because none of them will condemn one of their own until after the LEO is convicted. Then they all come out yelling about how he was just one bad cop. Bad cops are always bad but you won't find a LEO that will say a damn word until they don't have any other choice. Go figure why civilians don't trust cops anymore.

I find it very interesting! Very, very interesting. Here we are getting ready to hang someone over an article we read. Don't we realize that this article is written by a liberal paper. The article is probably based on the smallest bit of truth imaginable and embellished beyond belief. Don't believe me? Read any article involving guns, gun owners, shootings, assualt weapons, etc. The reporter always exagerates for the sake of sensationalism. Now look at it from the perspective of an anti. They read the paper. They believe everything written. They know from what they read that all gun owners are evil, all guns are machine guns, everyone shot dies, an assualt rifle is more evil and deadly that a deer rifle, etc. No wonder all the anti's want to hang the gun owners.

Give this story some time to play itself out. This is the WASHINGTON POST for God's sake. This newspaper is about as far left as you can get. Gee you mean some cops had to shoot a bad guy, gee the bad guy was only trying to survive in harsh world, society should provide more welfare, etc. I stopped reading this piece of trash newspaper. Well, OK , I still do read it but only but not for news, just to keep track of the ENEMY.

If you see the other newspapers in the area, like the Washingon Times pick up on the story, then its real, otherwise its just a bunch of Socialist whining.

P.S. The Washington Post regularly runs OP/ED pieces where they propose eliminating all private handgun ownership.

My brother is a PG county cop.  Let me tell you that you are reading an article by one of the most liberal newspapers in this country.

You all need to stop and think...you cant always believe what you read.  There are always two sides to every story.

PG county (Maryland in general) is controlled by liberal politicians.  Just recently the entire police force voted "NO CONFIDENCE" for the chief "Farrell"  You would not believe how much shit they have to deal with on a daily basis.  Farrell caters to every liberal politician you can imagine.  He does not focus on law enforcement.  Those of you who live in PG county can back me up on this.

My brother was involved in a shooting last year with a drug dealer dealing on the streets.  Drug dealer pulled out a 45 when approached, and commenced firing on my brother and his partner.  Luckily he was a bad shot.  My brother shot him and took him down.  This Drug dealer had the balls to try and sue the department for a wrongful shooting.  My brother had to go under investigation and was finally cleared.  Drug dealer survived his injuries and I don't think he spent any time in jail, because he was recovering from his injuries and is now confined to a wheelchair.  Crimes he committed...drug dealing...and attempted murder of two police officers.

Now what kind of shit is that?

When the Washington Post reported the incident all the facts were WRONG.  You are all quick to point out inaccuracies when a reporter calls a bolt action rifle an automatic...or they show a picture of a shotgun and call it an AK-47.

Theres the other side of the story.  BTW, none of the officers in the article is my brother.  I'm not saying that there aren't any bad cops...give this time until we know the facts.

When reading articles...KNOW YOUR SOURCE...and don't be so quick to be herded like cattle by liberal publications.

Well, my observations come not from any one newspaper article, but from living in Maryland for 26 years. By no means are every Maryland LEO bad. But the system is. And lots of bad cops are running around down there as a result.
Here's another observation - Pennsylvania police are NOTHING like their Md counterparts.

My experience with Pa. LEO's has been nothing but positive. Hell, just last weekend the guys at paspecops' Harrisburg shoot got to see first hand how "normal" they are. These guys are out on private property all day long blasting away with machine guns, and one of the neighbors complains. Now, Md. and Pa. are both supposedly ClassIII friendly. The Pa. police reaction was to pull over one of the participants and nicely ask him (I wasn't there so if you want it first hand read the thread in the events forum) about the shoot. The civi's response was "just a bunch of guys shooting at paper" or something to that effect. Cops says that's fine, have a nice day, and never even bothered the rest. Had it not been for the neighbor's complaint, he would not have had to investigate even this far, and he wouldn't have.
Now if that had happened in Maryland, the mere mention of full auto gunfire would have caused a shitstorm the likes of which you only see in the movies. There would have been SWAT, a few copters, Hundreds of uniformed cops, News vans, The governor, EVERYBODY would have swarmed in and made a huge mess of the property and all its inhabitants. Then you would have seen weeks of local news coverage about how all the psyco-gun-nuts were "just asking for it" and how all the cops that shot all the law abiding partygoers were innocent of any wrongdoing, and the governor would say we need to ban any semi automatic machine guns that militia members like the poor dead party goers tend to use to kill their targets (paper targets in this case).
In Pa, many LEO's would have asked how long the shoot was going to go, and could they come back and join in after their shift was over.

This is just based on 26 years of Md. experience, and 14 years of Pa. experience. Maybe I'm wrong.....

Well, as long as I was requested. I never said that individual officers or sometimes entire agencies were not capable of improper action.

If you look at the report the reporter reported incidents/allegations/lawsuits and then checked police files and talked to police officials and made an attempt to question individual officers. I t would appear that the al least tried to contact people named in the report.

I've said it before right, wrong, legal, and illegal are sometimes 4 seperate things.

Officers are people sometimes they do increbidle things to help others. Sometimes stuff that is no acceptable.

It would seem here there are problem officers working in a bad orginization. Did the officers corrupt the organization?? Or did the organization allow these officers to become what they are??

Policing sometimes isn't pretty, but multiple unarmed people shot and killed.........

Let me add a few things to my comments.  I have three police officer neighbors.  One is SWAT.  They are all young, in good shape, and appear to be pretty bright.  I have also dealt with the police a number of times, always as a victim of a crime.  For the most part they were all very good, except for one black cop who seemed pretty unmotivated.  PG County appears to be a place where they hire and train a lot of young cops, and those guys end up moving to better counties or cities as they gain experience.  PG County has a high crime rate, and the juries are about 90 percent black so it is harder to get convictions.

I have also had dealings with Washington DC police and US Park Police.  The DC police were terrible, just lazy and unmotivated.  They are fixing their personnel problems now.  The Park Police were also pretty unagressive about arresting someone I put a complaint against, but at least they followed-up.  The DC police never did that.
