[ARCHIVED THREAD] - HK 91 copy in American Rifleman?

There is an article about a copy of the HK 91 (or maybe its G3, anyways their .308 semi auto) made on HK tooling in the USA by a company I thought called DLT Enterprises, in this months American Rifleman. Anybody got a link and or any info on this rifle? Thanks.

From what I've seen so far, if it is a JLD that you're referring to, they are pretty good quality. They have available a model with a target barrel that is supposed to be sub-moa. Check the boards at www.hkpro.com or www.hkweaponsystems.com and you can get more info.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. Gun Tests Magazine raves about them also. That should tell you something.

I sold mine, didn't like it very much.

The recoil was HARSH. The piece of metal that attaches to the stock and the other end attaches to the receiver bent from the force of the bolt hitting it, making a gap between the stock and that piece of metal. And that was after only 300 rounds of Wolf.

I also got some FTE's, it was wierd as hell because some of the casings were actually turned around 180 degrees in the area that they eject from (I forget the name of that area, it's the area right behind the chamber that the bolt sits in when forward and is open space when the bolt is pulled back).

I paid less than $700 new for mine. Not one hiccup with over 300 rounds of mostly Port

and some Aussie. It shot great, about 2 inches at 100 yards, which is pretty much the limit of my eyesight.

It does have a vicious kick, making my M1 and M1A feel nearly like .22's. I guess the massive trunnion and bolt flying back into the back of the reciver had something to do with that. The stocks is of american make and crappy, but you can easily find good H&K stocks.

When you order one, go ahead and order a sight adjustment tool for it, since they won't get adjusted any other way. Some people grind down a hemostat, but even that didn't work on mine.

Mags are currently $1.97 from CTD.com, or approximately %5 of what I pay for good M1A mags.

That's about all I can remember right now, but I just woke up. Any other other questions, just ask.

For $1250 you could buy a nice Greek made SAR 8. Best clone of the HK91 if you can even consider this a clone.

Anyone planning to buy one, be VERY CAREFUL taking your first shots, this thing throws brass extremely hard and far. I guess it's good that you can't reload brass out of it's fluted chamber because it fires out randomely at around 30-45 feet.

This is nothing new, that is how a HK91 should kick out brass.

Yes, very stout recoil and you can knock someone out at 20 yds with the ejected brass, but UZI4U is incorrect--you can reload the brass after firing it in the fluted chamber, you just can't reload it after it's been beat up by the ejector, the ejection port, the floor, and the wall of the range while moving at 200 fps.

My average is only about 50% of the brass is reloadable after going through that ride, especially after shooting in an indoor range with concrete floor and cinderblock walls.

Agree w/ ARDOC, go SAR 3 or 8 route. I picked one up a Sar 3/8 overstamp LNIB 99% for $900 out the door last month. $20 got me 10 HK factory mags. $125 got me 1k rounds of Port. Good to go

It does have a heavy trigger pull (10lbs.) but very accurate none the less. About the same as my m4 w/ an aimpoint at 100 yds. Recoil is very managable but remember, no "nose to the charging handle" cheek weld

Only problem that I've had with mine is the paint has flaked off the reciever in the area where it says "Sar 8 Sporter EBO GREECE". Any one know a good paint/finish that matches?

lol A bunch of us (me included) bought PTR-91s when they first came out through SteyrAug, they were all jammomatic POS that ended up going back. I did get a new one that seemed to work okay, but it still had a POS front handguard with no heat shield, a trigger assembly that wiggled to and fro and a crappy non HK style rear sight. I traded it for a Beretta Storm and some $$$

The new one in the american rifleman is a different version than the $ 700 everyone else is talking about, I think it is a shorter, and more expensive, K version.
