I am looking or just curious about where to find a .38 special det. special gun used by NYPD. The older models. ANyone know where a REASONABLE one could be found.

I don't know about where to get one that was specifically used by the NYPD, but there was one for sale on the EE. Older model with the unshrouded ejector.

I saw one for sale last Saturday in Warrenton, Mo.

Look on Auction Arms and Gunbroker, there are bound to be some for sale there.

I have a Colt Army .38 Special. Early 1900s. Was my Grandpas so I'll never sell it.
