As a kid I remember going shopping with my Mom. One time as we were walking down the peanut butter aisle I spotted a wonderous jar that contained peanut butter AND stripes of grape jelly! This utterly amazed me that you could get peanut butter and jelly in the same jar. I asked my Mom if we could get some but she said we had peanut butter and jelly at home. Plus she said it cost too much. (she was born and raised in Scotland, during World War II so she was very thrifty) Over the next few years everytime we went down that aisle I would stare wistfully at the amazing Goober Grape and occassionally ask for some and the answer was always the same.

Fast forward a few years and I was on my own and I spied the illustrious Goober Grape and as I reached for the jar I could hear my Moms voice in the back of my head "its too expensive, we have PB&J at home". So, I always stopped myself. This scenario repeated itself several times over the years and I never got to try this amazing concoction of peanut butter and jelly IN THE SAME JAR.

I would often dream of the day that I would be able to buy some glorious Goober Grape.

Yesterday I had finally had ENOUGH!! I had to get some Goober Grape and my thrifty upbringing was not gonna stop me! So finally after 30 something years, I bought a jar of the beloved goober Grape! I'm in heaven it has been worth the wait. MMMMMMMMM LONG LIVE GOOBER GRAPE! I ate half the jar with a spoon last night. Yummy!!

That's just...heartwarming.

<---has always wanted to buy some, but always used the same logic to refrain....

Does it spread well, or does it tear the bread like cold PB does?

The best treat is NOT peanut butter and jelly together.

But peanut butter and...honey!

That's some seriously good stuff!

But, alas, I'm on a low-carb diet.

They still make that stuff? Wow. Talk about a blast from the past. I don't like peanut butter and jelly for the most part, but I remember trying that stuff as a kid once or twice and it was actually very good!

Alas, if only the "Frito Bandito" could make a comeback. He'd probably be considered "offensive" these days, though.

Heck, indulge! My parents are a little thrifty. They'll get the cheap brand stuff... and with some things, the cheap stuff is... just... CHEAP.

That Nutella stuff... man... we'd get that when we lived in Italy... and it IS sex on bread. I haven't gotten any here, but I think HEB has it.

Hey, does anyone remember KOOGLE? It was flavored peanut butter if I remember correctly. There was banana, chocolate, and probably some other flavors too. You would've had to have been a kid in the 70s to remember.

The Nilla was pretty darn good on homemade bread...(next best thing to cake).

Holy crap! My wife just bought a jar of that last week. I'd never had it before, and she hadn't had any in a long time. It was really good, but DAYUM! I'll be sure to tell her to go easy on that stuff.

Do you refrigerate your peanut butter? It doesn't need to be unless you just prefer it cold.

Damn straight. Take two slices of your favoirte bread and toast them. Spread peanut butter on one slice, honey on the other, and microwave both face up. Put them together and enjoy. Awesome snack.
