Great film.
Too bad it's pay for view on my cable system. Hard to  justify it for a film I have probably seen a dozen times for free.

Good movie. The book was good also. I believe the movie was filmed in Isreal, judging by the Super Shermans with the 105 mm mainguns.

Bit of Lee Marvin trivia: as a young Marine he was shot in the ass while fighting on Iwo Jima.

I believe he was shot on Tarawa. Or maybe Peleliu

Edit:
It was Saipan. Google is your friend!

On a side note, did they ever come out with the extended version they were talking about recently? I'd love to see a dircetor's cut/extended version of this film.

That's the first war movie I really remember.  Fond memories for sure.  The bouncing betties terrified me.
