Was at the public range today, so you have expect the unexpected. The first group of youths show up and are shooting from the parking lot, however that happens all the time and that's not the reason for the post.

The next group of youths show up and this is something I have never observered before.  They set up at the bench next to me and get their guns out M1 Garand and a M1903. They knew about their guns too!

The cops at the PD where I store my guns (on campus) are usually surprised to see the quality and the number of guns i bring in.  ARs, Sig, K19, 1100, etc...  no bryco crap or sks's like they're used to.

Edit to add - I have an H&R M-1.

I normaly learns something from most people I meet, but not used to seeing younger people with guns like that.

It wase'nt like they had borrowed their guns from their parents ethier.

??? Is it safe from where they're doing it? Are they sending rounds over your head? What's the range layout like? Again, WTF?

I'm 23 and I have some decent guns, although none are from WWII.
2 AR-15s, a FAL, an M1A, 2 Remington 700s(PSS and VS), 2 870s, a Remington 1100, Mossberg 500, Maadi Misr, WASR-1, an SKS, 2 Glock 19s and a Glock 34, 2 1911's, and some others.

Wow, seems like a lot when I see it written down. And those are just the ones I paid for.

So I guess they get to practice drive by shooting at the safety of the gun range

The parking lot is kind of parrel with the benches but closer to the range. They shoot at about a 10 degree angle to hit the dirt backstop.

You shouldn't judge shooters, especially young shooters, by the guns they have but rather how they shoot and conduct themselves. I know far more about guns than one of my friends and yet his are much nicer, why? Cause daddy doesn't pay for mine.

No problem!

A quick review of 4473s would net the same info, minus a couple from FTF transactions.

I agree. I'm tired of being judged for only having a 10/22 and a .38.

Well I wish I was 21 so I could buy a .38, I wish I had enough extra money that I'd consider buying a 10/22 instead of saving up for a fal.

i sure hope this trend continues. my son who is 17 is beginning to show an active interest in guns. he is wanting to go into the military when he graduates.

he goes shooting with me and pays attention to what i tell him. he is big on asking questions about why we do it this way or that way.

not all young kids are stupid......
