A cat or two will take care of the rats |
Doesn't look like a copperhead thoug it is probably because of the glare from the scales. I caught garder snake last week. Don't know how in the hell it is living right now because it is snowing and cold as shit.
True...but a good snake will take care of the rats AND the cats. SGtar15 |

looks like a garter snake
could have made a good pet but whatever |
He didn't say copperhead, he said cooperhead. There's a difference. Seriously, head looks too small to be a copperhead. I think you viciously defended your garden against a foot long garter snake. |
Same here...thee first clue was the picture of the snake laying on the shovel....in two different pictures. But then...I'm kind of slow Sgtar15`5 |

Dude, it's March 12th. That means it took you two and a half months to kill something. I don't think I got past Jan. 2nd.
Sheesh, OK COPPERHEAD.... It is not a garter snake, it is a young copperhead..... and yes, I used a SHOVEL...... |
I can't be a young copperhead. The tails on the young ones are a bright sulfur-yellow color |
It's not big enough to make a belt out of it.
What does it weigh, maybe a full OUNCE? Were you in fear of your life? When they're that small, it's tough to be sure what type it is except in this case, I'm sure it's a dead one. CJ |
Not a copperhead. I killed 13 copperheads last summer of all sizes. That is not a copperhead. |

+1 looks like a plain ol brown snake of some sort to me, I usually don't kill any snake unless it is poisonous. Copperheads around here have V shaped heads, and their skin is very shiney with a pretty pattern to them. They usually stand out pretty good, we also have a shitload of prarie snakes that people often kill mistaking them as copperheads. |
Next time.. Use a bigger shovel..
Or get yourself a bigger snake. |
IT IS A DAMN SNAKE, that is all the exuse I need......
and copperhead sounds better than run of mill rat snake... and yes I was in fear for my life... WIth all the talk around here of defending your property, against all threats, no matter what size, and all the talk of shoot, shovel.....yall have dissapointed me..... But I forgive you.... Now that I had a victory meal of BBQ Brisket, I am going back to my garden, my well defended garden.... I still have to hang the corpse on a fence to scare off other snakes.... |
Man 1 Worm 0 If you're gonna kill a worm, don' post it on the internet Just Shovel, shovel and shut up. |
Good, I'll send 'em all your way. |
I am assuming you checked with all your neighbors first to see if it was someones pet first right?
Did it have snake tags around it's neck? Probably someones pet. Sick fucks like you that would kill someones pet should be arrested. Everyone knows this is how it starts. First snakes...then a rat now and then... Next thing you know you will be out driving around the neighborhood looking for small cats to run over with your gas guzzling SUV. You sir...are an animal terrorist!!!!! Sgatr15 PS That's called sarcasm. |
Nobody cares that you klled that Texas sized earthworm. Its your garden and you probably don;t want it there. Just that you called it a copperhead. Copperheads will mess you up. |
Dude, never post pics of your snake kills on Arfcom. Everybody will bash the shit out of you. Trust me, I know. Snakes are your friend according to hive
that particular snake eats small rodents and reptiles, whats to dislike about it? |
not even a viper
.............................. copperhead lol |
I would have put in on a hook and dropped it in the water. And a small hook at that.
As others have stated - that isn't a copperhead. I "m puzzled people's instinct to kill something they have an unreasonable fear of and don't understand.
Must be one o' them Yankee Copperheads, cuz that don't like like none we got down here. |
it is the exact same reason anti's want to ban guns. they fear them and dont understand therefore it is evil and must be driven out |
Yankee copperhead from Oklahoma? |
Don't knock it. It's a great policy to have when at peace rallies Sgtar15 |
I've never seen a snake that looks like this X either |
this snake would have made a snack out of your grubworm.....
..................... I mean copperhead ......................... |
He must eat bunny rabbits |
If you killed it in West Virginia it wasn't an eastern diamondback. It was a timber rattlesnake. They come in 2 color phases a light phase which is a yellow-brown and a dark phase which can be all black or black-brown. The black phase is usually found on high ridge lines where the temperatures aren't as warm. The black pigment helps them absorbe UV rays. You get into eastern diamondback country down around South Carolina down to Florida and west into western Mississippi |
