Super Micro and AMI used to make some MBs in the US, but now I am hearing almost all MBs are now made in Taiwan.

If China takes Taiwan, that could be a problem.

Many cheap boards are made in China.

There are still some prototype houses here in the states. Production is done in the orient - Taiwan, Malasia, etc. They're pretty good at making production level boards and doing it for a lot less than anyone is willing to do here in the states.

Run the numbers... there's no way around it unless you want to pay a lot more for a computer.
TVs are the same way - no domestic production.

My Soltek boards are all made
in TW.

Stock up now before all the
boards start appearing with
commie mind-control lasers
in them.

most all MB have been made in Tawain for many years now. I dont think many computer componets are made in the States nowadays.

So, if China takes Taiwan, what does that do to companies like Dell? I doubt the supply chain will remain uninterrupted.

Just parts that are export controlled. A few processors and some storage devices that are not allowed for export are made in the states.

Remember Taiwan also makes about 30-40% of the worlds DRAM memory also.

How about if China decides all these semiconductor fabs foreign (USA included) companies have built are now the property of the state? That would really screw over alot of US manufacturers.

Sometime last year I read an article that noted that the last CD/DVD carriage maker outside of China closed.
The carriage is the "drawer" part that you put the disk into, and that holds the laser, ect.

There isn't anyplace else to get them now at all.
