 I have a No.4Mk1*

It is a Long Branch 1944 Rifle and has a 6 groove barrel.
What does the * stand for after the Mk1?????

I read about this somewhere, and the * has significance, I just can't remember what it is and can not find the article again.

 Thanks for any help

 Chuck

300ydClean,

The star (*) denotes a minor change in the design. On this model that is a simpler bolt release mechanism.

Usually, the charger bridge has additional milling and the two apeture rear sight and different barrel bands and small pieces.

I got this from the "For Collectors Only" book on the No.4 and No.5 Enfields. It's a pretty good book.
