I'm siding with Ed and the mods on this - this site is private property and the owners have every right to determine the content. That doesn't make them facists, it makes them the owners. I thought this had been corrected with the launching of the "other" site. Things have been a lot more civil around here lately so why go back?

The mods are wrong on this one... though it's their site so I'll respect the decision.  The link was labled for what it was and we are all adults here, morality police be damned.  We regularly discuss things on this site that the general public would consider reprehensible. One does not need to see a russian soldiers head nearly removed to know that war is disgusting and brutal, but there it was anyway. In the same vein as that, if someone posted the rape of a chechen woman by a russian soldier, would you keep that up as another testament to what atrocities we (as human beings) exact upon one another in times of war, or would you take it down as "porn"?  Don't get me wrong, I do not want to see any of the things I just mentioned, but I do want to point out the disparity between the things that are acceptable here and the things that are not. This will never become a porn site, the nature of members here would never allow it, as I think we're ahead of the average American in terms of our own morality and ability to self-police. IMHO, we do not need a moderator to tell us what is appropriate or what is not. The link was labled, not splattered as a pic that someone unsuspecting could happen upon, and whomever saw it MADE A CONSIOUS DESCISION to go to that site, despite the disclaimer. I thought the purpose of this forum was to encourage discussion, which it has certainly done, although I doubt this is what z71rat originally intended.

As for "the difference between nudity and pornography" . . . The US Supreme Court can't agree on the difference. How then is the moderater herein able to discern what the US Supreme Court cannot? I thought we had a First Amendment.

To the mods, it really wasn't my intention to start something. Just a knee jerk reaction to people who would suppose to decide for me. That said I really do understand this is YOUR forum and I appreciate being here. But please bear in mind a few things.

Due to the military/leo make up of this forum it will ALWAYS exist in reality.

For this reason harsh/graphic images will ALWAYS make their presence.

I really do appreciate and respect that you are trying to run a "respectable" forum. This is the reason I have ALWAYS posted here and more or less ignored AK47.net.

But again, we are mostly freedom loving people who live in and deal with the real world. So there will always be the occassional photo from rotten.com, etc. Please consider it the price of freedom(like putting up with Louis Farrakans stupid ass).

I honestly believe that the members here do a decent job of "self moderation" out of respect for the site. Blatant violantions are few and far between and usually the work of trolls and not regular members.

Also, I think there is resistance to percieved "censorship" due the the large moderator to member ratio. Having said that the mods are pretty cool. I actually like Striker, even though I kind of called him out. I would have done the same to Treetop who I consider a "bud".

So what I am asking is that you consider the source. Treat troublemakers like troublemakers and members like members. If Frank the Spank posts something kinda messed up, remember Frank is a good egg when all is said and done. And if I or another member posts the occasional "boobie" with fair warning as to content please let it go. I really have NOT seen anything too far gone as far as pics.

But I do have to wonder about the original post HERE being edited and a post about "dropping acid" running it's course. Not that I think that one needed heavy regulation either. Just suprised by and concerned for the members who advocate use of these substances.

I don't see the reasoning behind any argument on this. We are using someone else's site. They have asks us to only post appropriate things. We should respect that plain and simple.
I just thought of this as well....
If someone linked to a site where child porn was or something similarly bad you would be putting these guys at risk legally I would think. If someone wants to see porn with guns like was originally posted they should start an e-mail thread and exchange links via e-mail only. Personally I couldn't care less for the porn factor but Bikini chicks with guns are cool to me.

I think all sides have had a chance to bring up their points. I'm locking this thread so we can consider it "over with", and be done with it.

Like I've said before, I've really got no problem with porn(as some of you from the "other" site will attest). I just feel very strongly that it doesn't belong on AR15.com.
I've got a great amount of pride in this place, and I'd like to continue to for a LONG time...
