YEEEHAAA ! !
I went to the gunshow and found an excellent Colt SP-1. SN # SP20545X
It looks like everything is factory Colt except somebody put a free float tube handguard on it. I've already got some original trianglular handguards.
I can't wait to pick it up tommorow.
Cost ? $1000 tax included. I'll post a pic later.
Seems reasonable for a Colt Pre-ban. I saw some for $1400 today.

I remember a post on the old board from someone who picked up a preban SP1 for something like $700.

Thievery.

Not to brag or anything, but that was [red][b]ME!!!![/b][/red]
After selling most of the accessories that came with it, I only have $450 invested in that sweet shooter. [spank][spank][spank]

Oh & congrats Derek45, that's still a good deal.

I had an old SP-1 back in the 1980's..the serial number actually had an "x" as the last digit...What was that all about? If I remember it was SP29844x...

You will enjoy that SP1. Of all the ARs I have and have had, the SP1 still remains my favorite. Light weight, accurate, reliable.

Yep, I sold one back in 1987. I should have kept it.

Here it is. It came with a cheesy free float hanguard. I tore it off today and put on the old style handguards.

Cool! Much better with the triangular handguards. You have yourself a piece of history. Those SP-1's sure are nice and light.
