I used to think they were overhyped until I owed one, I no longer think that.  I love mine.
IMHO:
Some of the best glass out there, better than Leupold
I think they are made in Japan, designed by a Australian company, US base is in Washington State
Very, very, heavy this is not a hunting scope, weights much more than other scopes
The NSX is a very rugged scope
They are very expensive(but worth it)

I got the 3.5 - 15 x 50 for my Varminter after asking on this board.  By far the strongest, finest glass i have ever owned.  Worth every penny of the $1200 IMHO.
