I was just wondering the same thing. I've seen several topics locked and MANY posts edited that were at best questionable. It seems like since the old board died things have been on a fast downhill slide here. I used to come here to relax and enjoy good info and conversation. for the past 3 months it's been nothing but a war zone.
 Every topic posted turns into a flame fest within the first page. If the conversation goes more than a few pages it's suddenly locked because it's "run it's course". Then we are told to continue it on a new thread?! Why the hell lock it to begin with if someone is going to restart it.

I've been on the job for about a week now. Most of my editing has been to fix links or UBB code. I changed a couple of foul words to more politically correct ones once, fixed some spelling in a topic's topic line and issued one warning when things were heating up - a couple of low blows but nothing below the belt to continue your boxing analogy.

I enjoy a heated debate probably more than the next guy and as long as it's a debate and doesn't degrade into pissing contest I say carry on.

Some times it's best just to agree to disagree.

Guess ya gotta keep it under control before it gets out of control. Some get too emotional, others too racist or whatever to the point of diminishing returns. Hostility erupting just from words, should be moderated. Threats should be cause for banishment. PS, thanks for tolerating me, I get goofy sometimes, hopefully humorous and not too offensive. Ya cant let the lunatics run the asylum!

My .2¢ worth. I deleted a reply in the thread about Jews having guns because it made several derogatory comments in it. I didn't lock the thread because it had some good discussion in it. I checked back about 10 minutes later and the reply I had deleted was back again. I won't say who the member was because it has been dealt with and he knows who he is. Most of the replies I've edited have been honest mistakes by members who were a little emotional. I've received e-mails from several apologizing for their indiscretion which I appreciate very much. But when a member act like a child I'll treat him as such. I make a point to read any thread he posts in or topics he starts and I've locked a couple right at the start before the flame war started. A lot of moderating is judgement calls like Kuiper stated.

I think the moderators are doing a good job and hope they keep it up. There are plenty of poeple that act like stupid little pre teens running around on this board....they need to be moderated or this board wont be worth a Sheeeet! I usually avoid opening any thread posted by these poeple, no matter what the title is, just because I know there mentality and I am not going to let them get to me....there is one that seems to have come back with alot of posts in the last couple of days...to bad.
