I have been looking for a good metal decetor for about $250. if you have any knowledge in this subject please give me some advice.

Maybe the archeology dept at a nearby university could give you a clue. I've seen them at Radio Shack. Surf the net for forums. One thing I'd advise if you take it up as a hobby: If you're alone searching with one, pack and take your dog along (if you have one), cause you're going to be a sitting duck for a mugger. I might get into it myself too someday. Looks like fun if you have the time and patience.  Good luck.

Do some research.  Whatever you do, don't  jump out and buy one from Radio Shack or Walmart.
