Prison for Calif. woman who placed razor blades in playgrounds
Tuesday January 11, 2005
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) A woman who pleaded guilty in 2003 to placing razor blades and nails in playgrounds was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison for violating the terms of her probation.

Lori E. Fischer, 24, was arrested in September in Lake Forest when sheriff's deputies found 2-inch nails and a knife in her car. She had called them to say she had not taken medication for her mental illness and that she might do something dangerous.

An Orange County judge said possession of the nails and knife, as well as Fischer's failure to take the medication, were probation violations.

Fischer pleaded guilty in 2003 to numerous counts of felony child endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon. She was accused of planting the razor blades, nails and glass at 10 parks in Orange County. She could have received an 11-year prison term but was placed on five years of probation and ordered to seek treatment.
