I want to get rid of cable and get a dish, but I'm not sure which one to go with.  Looks like the basic price is about $40/month for Direct TV, and Dish Network.  Dish1up is advertised on radio.  I just don't know enough about them to choose one.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

dish has higher satisfaction ratings than directv, but previously this was the other way around.
dish will give you an hd tuner for free if you have an hd ready tuner
directtv has the NFL, dish does not
I think directtv has better deals if you want more channels, dish is better for packages with fewer channels.
Also check their web sites..local network channels were not available on directtv in my area, but they were with dishnetwork.
I went with dishnetwork and i am happy.

I'm not thrilled with the limited HD selection on DirecTV but...

1. I would not go anywhere else and miss the NFL Sunday Ticket
2. Their customer service and tech support has been spot-on every time I needed them (although there are sometimes long waits on hold).

Parents had Dish a couple years back.  I have DirecTV now.  Look at both of 'em and decide what fits your needs best.   They're both decent companies.
