I am having alot of problems with adobe reader, i am guessing its a confict with another one of my programs. I went to windows task manager and there are about 30 programs under processes?

this has to be too much stuff running right?

i am using windows xp.

There's no set number of processes that SHOULD be running.

Look for ones that have your user name next to them instead of SYSTEM.  If you recognize them and you do not want them running, kill them.

Use MSCONFIG (start>run>MSCONFIG, then go to startup) to eliminate unneeded programs from starting when you boot.

Before going to crazy terminating processes just do a quick search on the interweb for the program that is running (including the .exe).  Everything that's legit (and many that aren't) will have web pages explaining their function.

I've got 62 running right now.

The ones I'm actually purposely running are Outlook, Explorer, Seti & SetiSpy, Zonealarm, my cell phone link, messenger, java, a HD protector, a couple network things, anti-virus, a couple power things, IBM message center

I'd say you are on the lean side of number of running processes.

What i cannot figure out is why i cant get adobe reader to work?  6.0 was working then I think after doing a windows update it stopped. I then downloaded 7.0 and that wouldn't work so i tried going back to 6.0 and it still wouldn't work.

Are there any conflicts that I should look for?

I double click it then it opens to the first "loading" page and freezes.
