Looking for someone who lives in Hawaii and can give me the latest skinny on AR-15 regulations/state AWB info.  I am specifically interested in whether no-ban features are allowed.  It is possible that the Army is going to send me there this summer.  After numerous searches on google, NRA, and this site, I have only been able to come up with a limitation on pistol mags (10 rds or less).   Please tell me this is the only restriction for the state AWB...

Maybe I'm blind, but I looked twice and couldn't find a HI hometown forum...  Maybe it got dropped due to lack of interest?

There are a couple, just BTT enough and one will find it.

I think you are SOL.  They have a state ban and I believe they have registration.  I love Hawaii, but you couldn't get me to live there, ok, maybe for 3 months out of the year...

When you go from a state with no regs, to a state with some it kind of freaks you out.  I went to CA on business in the '90s, and went to a couple of gun stores.  I usually got into a conversation with a clerk and eventually a circle around me would develop of both customers and employees listening to my strange tales of no waiting periods, no registration, no ID cards, no bans....

Here are a few links.  When I was stationed at Schofield in the early 90's, Pistols were what the Honolulu Police Dept wanted to get banned.  The Police Chief then was a raging Anti-gunner.  I had a M-14 at the time and had no problems getting sent from the mainland to FFL who was a member of the Schofield Rod and Gun club.  I was a member of the Rod and Gun club and the Hawaiian Rifle Association, the HRA really went to bat for gun owners when I was there.

You must register all your firearms there too.

Schofield Rod and Gun club

Make sure you get out and see the island or you will really suffer "Island Fever".  I can still smell Schofield, the sweet putrid smell of rotting pineapples out in the fields while our Company ran PT in the morning.  Outside of the damn anti-gun shit, it is one of the most beatiful places on the planet.  Oh, and they have a fucking stupid bird all over the Post, used to run the stupid birds over with my 5-ton.

EOD thanks for the links - I actually served there from 98-01...  I remember the HPD registration requirements from the last time I was there, but have since acquired four more guns to include my first AR.  I don't want to ship them all this time around and am trying to decide what I would bring and what I would leave CONUS with relatives...

I live in Honolulu.  You can have ar15 here with all the evil features.

The worst thing we have here is an assault pistol ban.   This includes things like uzi, mac10, scorpion or what ever.  Also any hi cap pistol mags or mags that fit in an assault pistol are banned. Hi cap mags like 10/22 fit in tech 9 so they are out.  AR hi caps are out cause there are ar assault pistols.

You can have hi cap ak mags, m1a mags and stuff.  so long as there's not a pistol that the rifle mag goes in, you can have it.

these might help also

Stone Temple,
Mahalo.  I guess I'll have to get some ten rounders if I decide to bring my AR then...
