Is Aerosmith the original singer/songwrite of "Dream On"? I could swear someone else did it before them and they re-did it.

I don't know for sure, but I believe that is Aerosmith's. They first did it on Toys in the Attic I think.

Written by: Steven Tyler
Produced by: Arian Barber
Released: June '73 on Columbia
Charts: 9 weeks
Top spot: No. 59

Tyler began writing this power ballad in his late teens. He was still at it in Aerosmith's early days, pounding a piano in the basement of the group's living quarters. "Dream On" was the band's first big hit and was later sampled by Eminem (no talent RAP shitstain) on "Sing for the Moment."

Appears on: Aerosmith (Columbia)

About living in the moment, as each day could be your last.

This was the first single released by Aerosmith.

It hit #59 in the US, but went to #6 when it was re-released in 1976, after the band had a larger audience.

Lead singer Steven Tyler played the piano on this.
It provided an interlude at concerts where he could sit behind a piano instead of running around on stage.

The album was reissued in 1987 and 1993, after their albums Permanent Vacation and Get A Grip exposed them to a new audience who had not heard their early work.

Aerosmith first performed this at the Shaboo Inn in Willimantic, CT. They were paid $175 and a bottle of gin for the show.

1970's Aerosmith was a great band. Now they're ridiculous and seem to try to appeal to teenage girls.

And there's something wrong with that?
