Am I a freak, or are there others out there that have bought a magazine, part or even ammo for a gun they don't own, or they used to own???

I've got a fair share of parts and mags and no gun to go with them.

I was just thinking this, because I sold my HK93 last year, and kept half the mags.  Today I ran into a deal on some rare preban 30rd mags (20, 25 and 40 rd mags are the norm), and I'm thinking of stocking up big time.

I plan to buy another .223 HK soon, but still a couple hundred bucks for mags for a gun I don't currently own...  I feel a little nutty.

Absolutely! I went on a mag buying spree in 1999 before all the hi-caps were banned in CA. Mostly AR15, FAL, and M1A mags. I should have stocked up on AK mags but at the time I wasn't interested in buying one. And I totally blew it on the hi-cap handgun mags. All my handgun mags are 10-round. I don't know what I was thinking. Moron!

I just purchased 2 hi-cap mags for a Ruger P-95.
I don't even own a handgun... Yet...

One of my reasons for buying, to my family, is 'investment', since the liberals wont take freedom as reasonable....

I have mags and parts for firearms I have never owned, and have nominal interest in owning...

Some are simply enticement for specific weapon purchase...

I agree with CAV-VET's reasons.
It is a familial thing with me...Looking out for my kids who won't ale to buy thinks like SAR's and FAL's and AR's
And sometimes, I also use it as a reason to commit me to a specific weapon... Tying up $100.00 or $200.00 in Mags for a gun you don't own is a financial incentive to get the gun.

Funny thing is, I own a whole lotta guns.
But I only really ever shoot 3 of them...

Yeah, I bought a SAR-2 before I bought a 7.62mm AK.  Always meant to buy the 7.62mm AK later on, so I bought a 75 rnd drum and magazines beforehand with what money I had.  Still haven't got the AK.

Well now I don't feel so bad.

Like I said, I found some preban 30rd mags for the HK93/33/53, and until this day, I've never known such a thing existed!  Best part, is the price is better than what I've paid for 25 rounders in the past.

Just a reminder that the Reno Hilton Gun Show is coming up on August 17-19.[;)][;)]

As far as the buying mag thing goes, no I haven't.  However I am known to police brass at the range for ammo cases that I don't even have a gun for yet[:)].  This way I will eventually have to buy a rifle that goes with the brass....right??

Hmm... Naw, I don't need anything else. :)

Actually, I'd like some hi-caps for the Glocks but I don't see myself paying $150 for a mag. Geez!

Last month I bought 1000 rounds of Portugese .308 in battlepacks for no particular purpose.  Just can't pass up a deal.

I've bought or otherwise acquired many, many parts for guns I don't own.  I've bought gun parts and ammo just because they looked cool.  I've bought gun parts and ammo just because they looked cool.  I have over 100 rounds of once-fired 50 BMG brass and links, and some live 50 BMG ammo.

I figure I'll either own the gun some day, or use them for trades.  Gun parts are like guns in that, if cared for, they keep their value forever.

I have a dozen or so garand clips with black tips in them, I don't have a garand yet, hell I haven't even shot my cmp qualifying round yet to be able to order it, nor have I scheduled it and nor do I own anything else that fires .30-06. It just gives me more of a reason to buy.

Before the ban, I bought several standard capacity mags for guns I don't own.  I bought a couple of FAL mags, but now can't get a FAL.  I think I'll just go shine 'em up and dream of the FAL.

Like everybody else here, I bought a lifetime supply of AR mags at inflated prices.  Glad I did.

yepper.

pbrstreetgang = packrat of the worst sort.

i'm like an old crow. if its interesting, i'll pick it up. boxes and boxes of junk. when i need it, i can usually remember where it is.
i even pick up parts that fall off of cars- because they might be useful.

sometimes they are.[:D]

people tend to give me stuff they don't wan't too. most know i'm a tinkerer. must be the pinwheels in my eyes.

Super, got a great one.

I bought a pair of 1911 combat commander grips from a reputable dealer at a local show in Middle TN. I need the pair of grips as a template.

I sent the new grips to a close friend of mine in Bangkok Thailand, who took them to an contact of his that happened to be residing in a Bangkok prison for the rest of his life.  The guy's speciality was inlaid mother of pearl grips and did an awsome job creating a new set of grips from the sample I sent. dancing Chinese dragon in pearl on ebony on one grip and flying peacock on the other. Phenomenal., drop dead mastery. "In-Country".

I received them back and removed the grips from my 1911, started to put the new grips on....

They didn't fit...., the sample template grips I received back didn't fit either.

I got screwed by the vendor at the gunshow 4 months earlier.

To this day I can't locate the type of 1911 type gun they go to, they are about 1/2 inch too short. Been looking for a match, if I ever find it, I don't know if i'm going to buy the gun, or sell the grips to who ever has it.

edited because it's too late at night to spell rite.
