... it kicked ass!
Go buy it and read it. Nearly 900 pages long and you can count the boring parts on one hand. Unintended Consequences, by John Ross Don't go to Barns & Noble or Borders, they donate all sorts of money to the left. You'll have to find some random book store that can order it, I got my copy in less than a week from a local place. |
I bought it for like $7.00 from a used book store. People should try there first.

shameless plug for him:
www.john-ross.net Having met him once a couple years ago, he's a cool guy. doh. if I hadn't taken time to read some more stuff on his page..... |
Yes I read it. It took me about three times before I realized that Janet Reno was the ugly hag in the doublewide.

John Ross has posted on this Board before!
I still think he's a member, but doesn't come around much....well, to my knowledge! The book was great! The history of America's Gun Culture was the very best part, IMHO! Eric The(VeryImpressed)Hun |
The historical parts were great. The first half of the new stuff was good. The idiotic wish-fulfillment at the end was totally silly.

C'mon now, son, wouldn't you just love to grab Senator Metzenbaum's arm while he was jogging and floor it? A 'mythical' Senator Metzenbaum, of course! Eric The(TotallySatisfying)Hun |
Well, you know, there has to be something to make a movie from! |
Alright, I give up already.... Is that Imbroglio OR A-Rock? |
Yep, I invited him and he posted, I think his username is Jross but I'm not positive. Captainpooby and I bought AR's off of him too, unfired Sendra's with a letter from him and an autographed book. Mine is still unfired. |
ETH! Glad to see ya on the board again!
Hope you're feeling better, and any recovery left goes well and quickly for you. |
Work for the government, do ya? |

C'mon now, son, wouldn't you just love to grab Senator Metzenbaum's arm while he was jogging and floor it?
no. as much as i didn't care for howard metzenbaum, i wouldn't want to see his dumb commie ass dead on my account. i agree with rik and his assessment. |

A Gent named Correia takes orders periodically on thehighroad.org. He has a hat order going right now. Probably another month or so before he does another shirt order. Good stuff, good prices. thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=70094&highlight=correia |

Post from CAMPYBOB -
Where does simple liberal idiocy end and manifest treason to this country begin? This man was a traitor to the Constitution while in office, as are all politicians who willfully vote to dimish the rights that millions of Americans have fought and died to preserve for our benefit! What an inheritance they have squandered, and for what? People control! To keep us all poor unarmed peasants! The gun-grabbers deserve everything they would likely receive in any 'Revolution', for they have singlehandedly made such dire action necessary. And when that end comes, IF ever it does, I would be more than willing to serve as the Chief Arm-grabber for tired old liberal azzed fucks who were just as traitorous to our Republic as any Benedict Arnold or Julius Rosenberg ever wished to be. And the penalty for treason is death.
Cool. Sit back and enjoy the view. IF it ever comes. Eric The(RightThinking)Hun |

No, but my brain still works. And I KNOW that no government in the history of the world heretofore or that is likely to exist in the future would have made the "deal" the president made at the end of the book. |

Fixed it for ya - Governments promise much - Deliver little. |

chick on cover of book has a great set of cans-
i loved the part where the kid is shooting skeet with the BAR also the 20mm anti tank gun thing was cool as shit |
LOL that made me go back and look at the previous page.. My copy didn't have a cover.... Anyway, I did like the book, but I thought one thing didn't flow right.... This Bowman gent was really smart... I had a hard time believing he wouldn't catch on that it might just be the cops doing a raid on his place. The way the scene went it never even crossed his mind until it was all over. I would think that he would catch on much quicker. I'm not saying he wouldn't have continued, but I didn't like the way the transition of the plot occured. I'd recommend it. |

Love the gun history part. REALLY loved knockin' the stormtroopers from the sky with WWII technology in the Lahti 20mm. The whole homo rape thing was weird. Why do authors do that?
We all need a 20, 25 and even 30mm gun. Mount one on your deuce and a half. ENEMIES Foreign and Domestic was OK. Scary part is, I have met federals with the midset of the badguys in that book. Scary shit. hock.gif |

I read it a few years ago and it is a really good book. So good that I wanted to start writing a movie script using the book as a screen play.
I think once my movie script is done, I will be sending it along to this guy I know in Hollywood and hopefully I will get a movie deal out of it The movie script will probably never make it off the guys desk but I figure it is worth a shot. Can't imagine what all it will spark up but I'll have fun watching it all come down... b'cuz it is one hell of a story and most of it well . . . could be true, could happen, you'll see! M4-CQBR |

Good overview. Still a must read. |
It was a good book. I got it at the same newsstand in California that I bought my porn from. Certain parts don't add up, like the failure to pick up on he raid being conducted by the ATF, rather than criminals. I also thought the gay rape was a bit much, but it could have been based on an event in someone's real life.
The next book you should read is The Real Lincoln. I have it, if you want to swap. I have not read U.C. yet but have heard a lot about it.
I bought his book when he had a table full of them from the first printing at Knob Creek. He was signing them. He was at a table next to Kent Lamont. Both are great guys.
H.B. seemed larger than life in so many ways then the rape part knocked him down a bit and the drinking started. It made him human. I also suspect that it helped him empathize with the other sex abuse victims in the book. YMMV |
I liked it but could not get passed the aviation information screw-ups. Seemed like the author was just stuffing the chapters with needless information that was not factual. Good plot though. Planerench out.
Yah, too much detail at times. The history was great. I never heard about the bonus soldiers before.
Another good read is Enemies Foreign and Domestic by Matthew Bracken www.enemiesforeignanddomestic.com |

John Ross's office is only a couple miles from where I grew up - the restaurants, area, etc in the book are real. When I was a kid, my Dad & I went to the Steak & Shake he mentions in his book quite a bit. John Ross now also teaches CCW classes in St. Louis County.....a friend of mine just went through his course last weekend, and emailed me this:
Damn....carrying a S&W 500....OK, I'm impressed. And it's a helluva book to boot - I've bought at least a dozen over the last few years to send to friends. |
