Ax-Wielding Man Attacks Police Station in North Carolina Town

............

Associated Press

CLAREMONT, N.C. (AP) -- A man brandishing a double-bladed ax attacked the police department, smashing 13 windows and threatening an off-duty officer before police subdued him.

Neither the suspect, 40-year-old Tony Allen Mitchell, nor any officers were hurt in the incident Wednesday night, Police Chief Gerald Tolbert said Thursday.

Officer Clay Buff was washing his car outside the police department in Claremont, about 40 miles northwest of Charlotte. Buff was off-duty and wasn't wearing his uniform or sidearm, Tolbert said.

Mitchell pulled into the parking lot on his Moped and told Buff he wanted to speak to a police officer, Tolbert said. Buff returned to his vehicle to call an on-duty officer to speak with him. On his way to the car, Buff heard the sound of breaking glass and turned to see Mitchell chopping at the windows with an ax.

When Buff shouted at Mitchell to stop, Mitchell rushed at him, Tolbert said.

Mitchell dropped his ax when Buff and other officers drew their weapons.

"The man is very lucky," Tolbert said. "The officers used restraint and he complied with their orders."

Mitchell came to the police department earlier this week asking to be committed to a mental institution, Sgt. Gary Bost said.

After Wednesday's attack, officers served involuntary commitment papers on Mitchell.

The attack caused about $2,500 in damage to the building, Tolbert said.

He's very lucky to be alive.

So Buff wasn't wearing his sidearm, but he drew a weapon? What, did he whip out his cock?

Mmmmmmkay....

Now an axe is a decent weapon and all, capable of doing some serious damage. It might be a good choice for a weapon if one was not charging into a place full of guys who carry sidearms, shotguns, and evil assualt weaponry like MP5's.

Attacking a police department with an axe is like trying to kill a bear with Raid. You might succeed, but most likely you will just get f*cked up.

"Mitchell came to the police department earlier this week asking to be committed to a mental institution, Sgt. Gary Bost said."

Well, that's a start.
