have you tried getting on to other firearm websites or say porno? Are there filters in place of which you are not aware?
someone had the same problem on here found out it was the isp cox cable or charter i think.
When connected to the DSL connectrion do this..
click start run then in the run box typpe the word "command" (without the quotes) you should get a black box that opens.. in there type this.. nslookup ar15.com then hit enter do you get this result.. Non-authoritative answer: Name: ar15.com Address: 69.95.2.67 you can do the same for the other website. It should return this.. Non-authoritative answer: Name: rimfirecentral.com Address: 69.93.244.52 |
yes I got those same messages when I tryed, but there was some info about the server before the message...Thanks for helping....
That other info is fine. Those are your IPSs name servers. What error are you getting when you try to get to the problem sites? What version of Windows are you using, and are you using Internet Explorer?
Have you tried www.jobrelatedstuff.com/?
start -> run -> cmd
telnet www.ar15.com 80 It will either bitch about not connecting or the dos window will clear and your cursor will be sitting in the top left corner. If the cursor is in the top left corner, you can successfully reach the web server. edit: also, do a: tracert www.ar15.com From a dos window and post it. |
I tryed the jobrelatedsuff website and no luck....I get that white page that says "Page can not be displayed" or something like that...I am running windows XP home, and Internet Explorer.
If that, and www.banedsr.com come up, then ar15.com are blocked at a level beyond your computer. If that were the case, I'd ditch that provider so fast, they wouldn't know what hit 'em. Or didn't. |
tryed your page and I got "The page cannot be displayed" |
tracert www.ar15.com From a dos window and post it .......I did this with a tech guy on the phone and I got some message that he said was not good. |
so post it |

I get the same "Request timed out." but can access the site just fine so the problem must be elsewhere. |

So, you're blocked. get a new ISP. |
I used to have the site bookmarked, do a google search and try to find the number for thier Network Operations Center (NOC) call them and talk to them directly, worked for me.
ISP Means? Internet service provider, is that correct?...I live in a area were the was at one time only one interent service provider and it was dialup (what I am on now) well the telephone co. (Valor) came out and offered DSL for a resonable price so I jumped on it and am now having all kinds of hell....
I have never heard of Valor before, so you may want to call them up and ask them if they do any content filtering. Most ISPs do not do this kind of thing so it would seem odd to me that they are filtering web sites but who knows. Can you get to porn sites? maybe try to go to playboy.com or something and see if it has the same problems.
Have you had any issues with spyware? Like getting pop-ups, or page redirections when suring? |
it may be just a routing problem and not even his isp. it happens from time to time. call them up and ask. see what they say. fiber lines get cut. this can render some sites offline while others work fine.
-foxxz |
It doesn't look to be a routing issue. If you look at his traceroute above you can see this. If you do a traceroute yourself you will get to the same spot he does then get the time outs. |
I called them and they said they do not filter. I have tried porn sites and I can access them....no problems with spyware or popups or redirections....They said they would be looking into the problem but I still just dont understand Thanks for everyones input and help...If anyone has any more ideas please let me know...thanks |
Can anyone find the number for thier NOC? If you want I'll call you and do a 3-way call between you and thier NOC or tech-support.
I have done Tech support before and I know how they BS you. |
Just to try to rule out a few more things on your side..
Have you tried restarting the computer? With windows you never know. Is there a firewall on the computer? You could try to disable it if there is. You could try to download and install another web browser. Here is a link to mozilla firefox http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ You could also try to set a proxy server into IE. What this does is basically bounces you web requests off another server. Here is a list of some free ones... http://www.aliveproxy.com/transparent-proxy-list/ to set those open Internet Explorer go to tools, internet options, click the connections tab then click lan settings. Put a check in use a proxy server. then put in the ip address and port of the proxy |
I would Like to thank Taxman for his time and effort, and getting me in the right direction
I called him and went over a few things, we talked to tech support again, they are supposed to send a NOC ticket to be looked into, nothing wrong on his system it appears. |
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP....I am up and running something about the IP address was not being accepted so they had to some how give me an odler IP address so that AR15.com would take it...THanks again Taxman and Peekay for going going out of your way to help me.
Sounds like you might have received the old IP address of a former troll. |
For others who might visit this post with a similar problem, gbf was on the right track. First ask your ISP if they are filtering. If not, then to rule out a routing issue, use an free proxy sever from the Internet. Any proxy server on the Internet will rule out the routing issue (as long as it is located on a different subnet than your IP address). To rule out your IP address being banned, you need to find a proxy server on the Internet that uses its own IP address as the requesting address, rather than passing your own IP address to the source as the requestor. |
