I just got back from trying out my LEGP for the 1st time. Took my boys out for a Fathers Day informal shoot (we had Colt H-Bar--SKS--Ruger 10/22--Rem.Viper 22lr & of course said LEGP)
We went for a desert shoot & although it was 105 degrees out we still had a blast!!

However on the way back my oldest son noticed the exit number to the Ben Avery Shooting Range was of all numbers [b]223[/b]

I can't believe I never noticed it before.

that's how i remember it.

I spent a week at Carefree attending a Nortel conference.  The exit number was the first thing I noticed.  That is the most beautiful public range I have ever seen.  Unfortunately, I did not know about the range before I went to the conference, so I didn't bring anything to shoot!!  Talk about being disappointed!

Yeah, I knew it was exit 223.  I don't go there unless I am sighting somethiing in, because the make you sit down to fire full-auto (and that sucks).  They even get a little miffed when you fast fire a semi-auto.  So unless they need sighted in I just go out to the desert. [uzi]

even if i need to Zero a weapon i go to the desert.  i only go to ben avery, because that is where most weapons training is done. i've only shot at the main range one time. it's hard to have fun if some old fart is telling you to slow down.

I've only been to Ben Avery once and that was to qualify for my ccw. That was 5 yrs ago. I guess at that time I only had [b]308[/b] on my mind. But still I've been past that exit several times before (I like going to the Pioneer Living Museum & Table Mesa Rd) and just considered it the Carefree exit.

That sure does make it easy to remember...
I have only been there once,too.
I'm on the other side of town so it's easier for me to go to Rio salado in Mesa.
