Ouch - AR15.COM

So like I yanked out a hangnail from my big toe last night. This morning I wake up and it is hurting like hell and a red around the edge of the nail. I left it alone but when I had to go out it hurt so bad that I was limping when I walked. The only medicine I could find was an old tube of neosporin. So I used that and ate some moldy bread for the penecilin. Will that work?

Seriously though.. Clean out the area thoroughly and rinse with hydrogen peroxide or another antiseptic. THEN apply an antibiotic cream to the afflicted area.

Watch out---> Hangfag might report you to the podiatric police !

Hangnails hurt like a MF i know i just had one luckey i was going in for foot surgery the next day so they fixed it when they were fixing the foot. what i would do is either cut the damn skin be carefull not to cut to deep or go in and have it looked at by a doctor. probly choice #2

When I have this kind of problems I usually rinse the toe with cold water for about 1 min. and then I spray deodorant over it to take care of the infection.

If it does not work then I shoot it. I got only 3 toes left.

tequila works me.[:D] drew has the right answer for you.just make sure you keep it clean and as dry as possiable for the next 7-10 days.you should be back to normal(ha ha)in that time frame.i've been there too,so i know it hurts like hell.mmk

If your toe is still pink in color it is probably infected (same thing happened to me). Go see someone and get some antibiotics for that before it gets out of control. Good luck.

You may want to try soaking it in warm salt water. Same treatment used for in-grown toe nail post-op patients.

I tear my toenails off all of the time, but this is the first it hurt so bad I couldn't wear shoes. I was getting kinda scared that it might be a staph infection. I poured H2O2 on the toe and it bubbled up like crazy then put more neosporin on. It feels a little better, but I still can't put my shoe on!

Hopefully its not infected. The feet have some nasty bugs. If it gets warm, swells, or the pain gets worse, get red streaks going up towards your leg, I would go to the ER or see your doc right away. Better than losing a toe.

Don't fool around and get blood poisioning.
I feel for you my friend. I have had the same problem before and it hurts like bitch.
I had one really bad during basic training. Hell the pain from my toe far outweighed the other B.S. I was going through at the time.

Seriously - pay [i]very[/i] close attention to that toe. You have some kind of infection. If you develop red streaks on your foot [red] get to a doctor[/red]! If I were you, I'd get to a doctor anyway and get on some antibiotics.

One of the guys I work with had a similar problem (with the streaks). He went to see the doctor and they told him they had to take the entire toenail off. He said "OK, when I get back from this out of town job next week". They said "You're not going anywhere. The toenail comes off tomorrow. You wait 'till next week and we'll be removing your foot."

The h2o2 and neosporin worked and my toe doesn't hurt anymore so I ain't going to no doctor!

I had a staph infection a couple times when I was a kid, red lines and all. I still remember the huge pink penecillin pills and how bad they made my pee smell.

When the red area turns yellowish/white and is swollen with mild infection and painfull to touch make a small cut and sqeeze out the puss. It will be fine a day or two after that.[:X*]
