I like the shoot out in the movie Heat and also when the guys did a little jungle clearing in Predator.
Just rented "Heat". Plan on watching it tomorrow night. I've heard a lot of folks raving about the gun battles. Can't wait.
"The Wild Bunch", Sam Peckinpah's film, elevated the shootout from cliche to art form.
Heat was good.
Predator had goofy camera work during the shooting scenes, "I ain't got time to bleed". Anything from ALIENS IMHO |
Perhaps i'm silly, but i liked the Matrix
; ) and to date, there have few been few women i've enjoyed watching 'shoot' as much as Angelina Jolie, lol... Lara Croft Jeff C/NY~~Blade |
The end of Unforgiven and the scene in Outlaw Josey Wales when he takes on the four soldiers in town.
Not much of a shootout, but Indiana Jones and the scimitar guy. Never bring a sword to a gun fight...
As morbid and real as it is, I would have to say that the entire movie "Saving Private Ryan" was one realistic, hardcore, shoot out. Every time I watch, it still floors me.

Heat should be everyones favorite. I'll add Siege at Firebase Gloria when the NVA were trying to overrun the base.

To those who may not know this. The Heat action scenes were authentic cause former member of the 22nd SAS, Sergeant Andy MacNab was the technical advisor for the movie. McNab led the ill fated Bravo Two Zero patrol during the Gulf War, then retired in 93 or 94 and has made a shit loaf of $ with his books.
Heat of course. Way of the Gun had some good ones. The Professional as well...
Tomb Raider - Angelina Jolie with guns...damn that's cool
Aliens - 2 words..."LET'S ROCK!!!" Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan Not really a gunfight but how about the start to Gladiator? |
The bowling alley bathroom scene in "Freebie and the Bean". Earplugs and chewing gum, way to be prepared.
Closely followed by the ever popular "Heat" bank robbery. |
The Wild Geese - Ms Vickers AND a bazooka. Almost spoiled by the 'recoilless' full auto FAL though...
The Matrix just for sheer volume of fire. The Three Kings had some awesome photography with the camera following the bullet. Sniper. |
SCARFACE "I want you to meet my little friend"
is my second choice and HEAT is at the top of my list also. |
Tombstone:
1. Shoot out @ O.K. coral 2. Doc Holiday drunk twirling his shot glass [shotgun] "I'm your huckleberry" |
All I have to say is The Good the Bad and the Ugly the last shoot out with Angle eyes ,Toko and Blonde, Also for a few dollars more, and Last man standing but that was a rip off of For a for dollars more. Sorry love Westerns don't hear to may people who are young 21 that is say the love old Westerns.

Several scenes from The Final Option. The Killing House scenes and the Ambassador's residence, plus the explosive entry and final hostage rescue. But hey, I'm real partial to that kind of work.

Absolutely saving private ryan, the whole movie. When I watch a fire fight I want some reality to it. I cant stand watching a movie where twenty commandos open up with full auto weapons from twenty yards and no one gets hit like on the matrix.
Ghost in the shell when she blows up the guys body, Also Kite when she used the exploding bullets and shots the guy in the head on the elevator.
Saving Pvt. Ryan? The sniper changes out his scope and never fires a sighting group. The squad moves in a bunch while on patrol. The enlisted argue openly with an officer. Are you guys sure about that?

the professionals was pretty good. it had some nice HK 53 (correct me if im wrong, they might have been 33's with tele stocks, cant remember ) action
1.Rules of Engagement, rescue/rooftop shoot out and the American Flag wasn't forgotten.
2.Heat 3.Saving Private Ryan Iso |
While Heat has to be tops. Here is one nobody has mentioned....Forrest Gump (Vietnam Scene). I thought that was pretty good!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
I liked the final shooting scene..a 3 way fast draw.. The Bank Robbery Scene in Heat was good..so was the Wild Bunch. |
1. Heat - for realism
2. Matrix - cool factor "what do you need? - other than a miracle" "guns, lots of guns" 3.Saving Private Ryan - relatively real war. 4. Okay, bury me in shame. Face/Off - John Woo is god - never mind the "gangsta syle" shooting. It still looks cool. |
i dont know there is so many
but what i like thatwasnt mentroon was the opening shootout in predator 2 with the la drug lords with Augs [:)] |
What makes the final scene in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" so good is the music by Ennio Morricone. With his music, you could be watching paint dry and it would be exciting. The piece just prior to the gunfight, were "Ugly" is running through the Hugh cemetery is called "The Ecstasy of Gold" It's great.
I have not seen HEAT but has anybody given any thought to to, Tombstone, or maybe Silverado? I know the scene in "THe last man standing" is pretty cool! (you know the one). Or maybe the whole gun scene in "Under Seige" You don't need to shoot alot. just be on target!
So many targets and not enough ammo! |
The Thin Red Line, where the guys volunteer to advance on the jap machinegun nest. The action from behind the boulders was pretty realistic, especially with the guys reloading the M1 in the heat of battle and having to use their .45's after they stir up the nest.
I've got some to add...
"Extreme Prejudice" The second to the last shoot out is pretty groovy, even though it is a remake of the last scene in "Wild Bunch". "Hard-Boiled" The whole time in the hospital just rocks. Let's run around through an exploding hospital and shoot everyone. Whoo-hoo! "The Killer" All the gunfights kick ass. Now, let me say that I realize that most movies are not based in reality. Otherwise the good guys would die in the first few minutes and the show would be over... It is possible to have an unrealistic scene with guns that is still cool. Tactics be damned! |
1. "Saving Private Ryan" - got the sound down perfect too right down to the Garand clips going "twang" and the brass hitting the ground.
2. "Terminator" - the gun store scene was one of my favorites... "Hey, any one of these is great for home defense" 3. "Scarface" - "Say hello to my little friend" Then there's "Lethal Weapon" where Mel Gibson fires about 6,000 rounds out of an MP-5 without ever changing magazines. |
You guys seem to have forgotten
HAMBURGER HILL....that final battle to take the hill was riviting. But Heat and Saving Private Ryan still rule Oh and the final battle in Platoon. |
Raising Arizona....
When Hi robbed the the convenient store for the cash and the Huggies... rent it sometime... "Thats a private residence Bill..." |
All though is is full of errors I love the shoot out scene in Matrix when they enter the Federal building!!!
