Nice yellow.....
Gonna have to bring my CAV-15 (both, when the new AR15.com numbered lower gets here) to the local shooting area (in the back 40). Might have to go on the 4th of July or something... make sure lots of people are there to see...... That's if it's not too dry here and another fire starts..... There must be more......it's sunday night, everyone is asleep for monday work day..... maybe I should follow.... |

Got a Cav 15 lower attached to a slick flat top upper with a lightwight colt A1 16" barrel with a 1/9 twist and a Cav Comp. Love it, 4.9 lbs on the bathroom scale with the reddot and a loaded 30 round mag. wish I could post a pic. BTW Shawn, 1/12 CAV 74-76 and 5/5 CAV but 3AD 89-91.:)

I'm in the same boat as TreeTop. I have a scream'n yellow CAV-15 lower but alas..it's non functional. With a little work I could fit my upper to it and at least take a pic.
Shawn is there enough "meat" around the pivot pin holes to drill it out for the Colt large pin? TreeTop is your Dewalt Powertool sold as a pneumatic hammer or drill? [:)] |

How does the weight of a CAV-15 compare with an AR-15 with the same upper and a comparable buttstock?
Does the plastic construction make it any lighter? |

The AR15.com ser # CAV will be number 2. Waiting for the 'next generation' CAV...... hopefully something like that pic GarryOwen was teasing us w/ over on his forum. (A CAV-15 receiver that takes a traditional buffer tube...... pistol tube in my dreams).....

I have several. Some are from the original molds. I am a dealer for Cav Arms
We had a several colors of the new ones on display at the Tulsa show. Our yellow one was suspended above our display. The pink one was a hit! |

A non gun means that the lower is not finished enough to actually accept the parts to make it work. It would require extensive work with expensive tools to finish it off. As such it's reall just a piece of plastic that looks like a rifle lower. |

I've got an Olive Drab one, I'm awaiting development of OD M4 type HGs and then I'm going to refinish the whole rifle (16" Hbar with DTA Mil-brake, A2 upper) in Olive drab parkote as well.
Due to the "top feed" orientation of the selector detent and plunger, I was not able to make it a "milled and drilled" M16. I was forced to use one of my registered DIASs, which thusfar has handled 1200 rounds of russian w/o a problem. D. www.azexarms.com |

Scott I cut it on a table saw, with a 10" blade. This kept the cut parallel to the original butt, perpendicular to the top of the buttstock. I just cut where I felt it would be a tad [i]too[/i] short, so I could add material to it if necessary to get the right length.
