And  barely then.  It seems they only carry it long enough suit their purposes and then run back and grab their socialist standard and wave it proudly.

Y'all are over the top on this one...

Not obeying protocol is NOT tantamount to desecration.

This type of reaction is exactly why I'd never support a flag protection ammendment.

The Flag cannot be destroyed. Their attempts to destroy it will instead destroy them, like Daschle, who's sorry ass was kicked out of the Senate.

Well I'm only 25 and I know better then to do that. The US Flag is sacred!

The flag is a symbol of our nation and all that we have struggled and sacrificed for. To dishonor it is to dishonor our nation. Our flag can never touch the ground. Once a flag has been desecrated in some way, it is burned as part of a ceremony to keep the sanctity of the flag pure.

That's why a lot of people weren't that upset about idiots burning our flags. Burning them is a sign of cleansing the flag of all the wrong done to it. Not to mention it gets our nations symbol out of their filthy hands.

This, from people who not only know better, but should DO better because they supposedly are our best and must set an example for the rest of the nation, is little better than spitting at our soldiers and pissing on our flag. Burn the flag, and the bastards with it.

To them, the American flag is used just like a campiagn button or sign.  It's merely a tool.  They have no respect for it.

Um, better men than you and I died under that flag.  When the staff of a United States Senator shows that kind of "not obeying protocol"--read DISRESPECT--it IS a big deal.

Ok, I'll give you that a senate staffer should be more keyed into decorum, but I'll still stand by my statement that protocol failure<>desecration.

+1 Dead wrong.  Protocal calls for the flag to be properly destroyed if it touches the ground.

This is not a protocol failure. Protocol failure is something like flying the UN flag above the US flag, or not hoisting the flag to full staff before lowering to half,  or the flag accidentally touching the ground while folding......

PLACING THE FLAG FULLY ON THE GROUND AND LEAVING IT THERE IN ORDER TO FOLD IT IS NOT A FAILURE OF PROTOCOL, IT IS A COMPLETE FAILURE OF RESPECT FOR THE SYMBOL OF OUR NATION AND IS TANTAMOUNT TO DESECRATION!

US Code Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8:
(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
