Church Apologizes For Halloween Anti-Abortion Literature

(Smithfield, VA) -- A Smithfield church is apologizing for handing out abortion literature to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. The "Daily Press" reports the Smithfield Police Department received more than ten calls Sunday night and Monday morning from upset parents whose children were given a pamphlet with a headline that read "Mother Hires Killer to Hack Child to Pieces." Inside the brochure was a picture of what appeared to be an aborted, decapitated fetus. Apparently members of the Mill Swamp Baptist Church of Ivor parked a van at a church member's house in the Red Point Heights and Moonefield neighborhoods, where the literature was distributed. The church members are apologizing and said the bags were supposed to be filled with candy and gospel pamphlets instead of the anti-abortion fliers.
