Where I'm at in Afghanistan is pretty remote, so its a small run base.  We just recently got commercial internet lines put in that people can hook their laptops up to.  Its awefully tempting, but I just cant justify buying a laptop that I wont get for at least a month and will only be here for maybe 4-5 more months.  Its just not worth it is it?

Do you need a super 3.2G laptop, or just one for cruising the internet?

If you can live with a 1.8 gig or slower, I'm sure someone here has one collecting dust that they could part with. We used to have a stack of NEC's with 56K modems, CD-ROM's and LAN cards but we gave them all away.

Anybody else out there?
