I'm going to be in a virtual news black out. No TV, no radio, no Internet at the polling station. I need to know among my regular "followers" if anybody has the ability to feed me information during the day via text message to my cellphone? Our operations are going all out into poll security, so there won;t be anybody monitoring this shit and feeding it to us.

The type of things I would like to know are turnout, exit polling, weather, reports of fraud in the news. Short informative text messages along with a phone number where I can reach you guys. So if anybody can help me out, I'll try to offer what input I can while being all but cut-off from information.

IMs I think are possible if I activate my cell for IMs, but then I'm afraid I'll get flooded. Cingular may allow you to text message through their website to my phone. Anybody know?

I don't have a clue how to text message - I've never needed one or needed to use one. I'll volunteer to help out some other way if nobody else is available.

My Sprint phone will get AOL IMs that look like a page. I have no idea about Cingular.

Yeah. I've got Cingular and you can t-message from thier website. IM your phone number and I'll keep you as up to date as I can as I will pretty much be in front of a computer all day long. A specific list of items would be helpfull so I can set up the web pages.

I can text message you from work. Would need to know what phone service you have and your number. Nothin around Houston is going to be too exciting. We will have a storm coming through tomorrow and it will probably be raining Tuesday morning and clearing in the afternoon. Even Delay should win easily, but he is taking this race a lot more serious than the last time. He is pouring the coals to the tv adds.

Was reading a spanish newspaper this morning, couldn't make it all out but the gist was they are pulling for Kerry. I think a lot of Hispanics are going to pull the Bush handle in Texas they are fed up with democratic promises+ they don't like anyone coming into their country and startin shit (9/11). Payback is important to the hispanics in my town and Bush damn sure is paying them back in Iraq.

Don't limit your messages to just local, if you see something on the news, let me know that as well. 160 characters is decent if you abbreviate.

email yourself from your phone, and see what adress it comes from.

then just email that and see if it comes up on your phone.

How do you want do implement this? Are you going to call us for info or do we send stuff whenever we want? If the latter, you may get swamped with multiple inbounds of the same data. Perhaps a rotation order should be set up. Any thoughts?

Good question, I don't mind multiples... only about 5 of you have my number. You all will have access to different information depending on what you are listening to. Fire away, I paid out the ass this month for text messaging. I also don;t want people feeling tied to the computer for me, if you hear something good... let me know.

Thanks guys, but I really want to try to keep this simple...

This is what I suggest. Send me a number where I can reach you, I'll program it into my cell. Send me messages through cingular's website, if I need follow-up I'll call the person who sent it to me. This seems like the easiest thing. I might get a few breaks during the day and I'll most definitely run to my car and fire up the satellite radio, but can;t have it in the polls.
