VERNAL, Utah (AP) -- The Uintah County Sheriff's office arrested four eastern Utah students Friday after uncovering what they said was a plot to kill students, parents and teachers at Uintah High School.
Sheriff's Deputy Robert Roth told a Salt Lake television station that it was a "pretty serious plot."
"There were pretty serious intentions of possibly killing other students, some named teachers and some of the suspects' parents," he said.
Police did not recover any weapons, and Roth said the plot appeared to be in the planning stages.
No further information was being released about the four suspects, including ages. He anticipated the four to be formally charged either late Friday or Monday.
Information given to a deputy assigned to the high school led police to the home of one of the suspects, he said.
The sheriff's department did not immediately return a phone message left by The Associated Press.
