First off get your mind out of the gutter Im not talking about KY. So I have several military styled rifles and wanted to know what the best lubricant is to us. I normally use Rem Oil but it seems that on alot of military styled rifles a thicker petroleum based oil or grease would work better. What do you guys use and how does it work?

I use CLP. Many others use Militech.

ACtually, I use Brake Cleaner to clean the guns and Wal*Mart oil afterwards.

When I first started shooting, Dave G introduced me to Tetra gun grease and oil (I think he's moved on from there). I still use the grease on areas that get a lot of heavy work (Eg., with the AR-10 -- the bolt carrier rails) and I still use the oil on the rings. So, because i still have a full tube of Tetra gun grease and a bottle of Tetra oil (it sure lasts a long time!), I still use Tetra.

high tempurature wheel bearing grease and 30 weight, non-detergent automotive oil for all my firearms from the anschutz single-shot .22 match rifle to the machineguns.

i've found no reason to use anything else.

I've always used mobil-1 10W50 in a pinch- what's the deal with non-detergent- {wonders about family heirloom 1911 coated in mobil-1 and vacuum sealed}
