Both of my school aged kids do homework everyday, one in third grade (has been doing daily homework since Kindergarten) the other is in Kindergarten now. I help them everyday (well often it is my wife who helps, but I make it a point to help them a couple of times a week at least). I think it is important to do that, not so much to do it for them, but to know what it is they are learning in school, and to make sure they have a good understanding of what they are doing, I wouldn't want to rely on the local public schools to give a hit if the kids are doing well or not, and the private schools are worse (I sent my son to Pricate school and was very disappointed, they were more concerned with image than education, it was a waste of money).
