I agree to an extent -- we are the government.

More likely, paid lawyers and politically appointed judges will choose the president.

Great. Let's go back to divine right and the rule of kings.

Thank goodness the founding fathers were deists.

I loathe it when people who have very limited knowledge of the Holy Bible try and take one verse out of context and use it to try and prove God is an idiot.

This is NOT directed at you McKenzie.

You demonstrate that you do not know much history.  The founding fathers were not deists.  Possibly one or two could be defined as such, but the vast majority were devout Christians.

And they did not give us a Theocracy.

Sure he can, but he isn't a free agent so St. Louis is still screwed.

And if he couldn't, what would he say in the case of "swing and a miss"?

Presuming the founders were devout Christians (which I don't), they sure as hell didn't follow that one. Remember, they started a revolution.

That is true to a degree.  But when the government asks you to do something evil, God's law supersedes man's law.  Otherwise, you are saying that if you were German in 1943 and a Nazi asked you about the jew you were hiding in your attic, it would be your Christian, civic duty to tell the Nazi where to find him.  The quote you quoted is from one of those "thought translations" like the Living Bible, rather than a more accurate word-for-word translation, such as NASB.  These translations tend to use a lot of popular idioms, and in many cases diverge completely from the intent of the author.

So, God chose the Clintonites over Bush Sr. and Bob Dole?
