My girlfriend lives on the way to the mountians. We can be out in the sticks climbing the appalachian hilsides in about a 20 minute drive.

Wedge1082's house. He already told me. It's only a thousand miles from Philadelphia to Kansas.
The summer camp I used to work at. It's out of the way, I know it thoroughly, there's plenty of shelter, and there's a good supply of clean water. Not to mention plenty of wildlife. I wonder how long I could live there undetected.... |

I've got a pretty quick drive to the mountains on a good day, but on a bad day those roads would be easily clogged. Luckily most would probably stick to the freeways and head N. to LA, S. to Mexico or East on the freeway to Arizona. Our less travelled roads head into the mountains east San Diego where my parents live and only a short drive from there (20min) gets me really into no mans land mountains.
Unforunately, if there were a bio/nuke attack the wind travels west -> east with cloud cover moving eastward in the evenings. Right in my path of escape. |

My place in PA - well water, streams, plenty of fresh venison roaming the woods, firewood, access to nearby horses if fuel for motor vehicles is a problem, and a small in-ground pool usable as a machinegun nest/gunners position for anyone stupid enough to approach.

Your parents live in East SD county? My family has been in the East county since about 1870. We still have land there. My wife and I plan on building there, this coming year. Growing up I used to target practice in my back yard . . . |

Ramona actually. They've got 3 acres but the neighbors are packed a little too close together to do any shooting on their land. The East County (Eastern El Cajon, Alpine and farther out) is really exploding right now just like the far north like Temecula. Land costs so much people are willing to put up with living 30-50 miles from work. Hamul and Jacumba are still pretty empty though I don't know for how many more years that will be true. Ramona is a city too, so I'm betting they have some law covering firearm discharge in the limits. Maybe not though. I'll have to look into it. It's sad to see a suburban 3br home, out in the sticks still going for 350k and up. I'll never be able to afford it out here, and the gun laws pretty much give the little nudge I need to leave. |

If TSHTF in my area odds are it'll be hitting on a large enough scale that it would be stupid to leave my home and either get stuck on a highway somewhere trying to get somewhere else, or smashed into by some panicing asshole trying to get away...
I'd much rather sit on my roof and defend the casa. |
